Sorry
I’m sorry, I have not been updating this for a long time. I was recently diagnosed with Anxiety which drives depressive states. It makes me super worried about posting anything. However, I have started counseling as well as medication which has greatly improved how I feel on a day-to-day basis.

The Signs
There are so many signs to look out for when it comes to dealing with mental health. Here are some things to look for when you are concerned about someone's mental health.
Eating too much or too little
separating oneself from friends and family
separating oneself from normal activities
having little to no energy
feeling numb, like nothing matters
feeling helpless, or hopeless
fighting with friends and family
severe mood swings, or mood swings in general
thinking of harming oneself or others
inability to do simple everyday tasks
using any kind of drug or alcohol
hearing voices, or having memories you cannot get rid
However these are not the only signs, and many people will deal or cope with things in different ways. Therefore if it’s a loved one please pay attention to their habits and if it’s changed ask them about it.

The reality
College
Did you know that 1 in 4 college students will report having suicidal thoughts, that 50% of students rate their mental health blow average, that 1 in 3 students will report prolonged periods of depression...
These are things that should not be taken lightly. So many times people will ignore the feelings or thoughts that they are having because it is not “Normal”. Well it’s time to start educating students on the different signs to be looking for not only in themselves, but in others. Recognizing the signs allows a student to take advantage of the different support systems that are offered on their campus.
Please if you or anyone you know starts experiencing systems encourage them to seek help and guidance from someone who is trained in helping them find their path to healing.

The greatest weapon we have
The Stigma
There is a stigma surrounding mental health and the people afflicted with the different illnesses. Many people will not seek help simply because of this, however times are changing. There are so many programs out there including my favorite, the #BellLetsTalk. Which donates money every time someone tweets, watches a video, retweets, and shares any post with the #. There is no truth behind the stigmas, in fact the people who have mental illnesses are some of the strongest people I know.
