Golden hour at Clevedon Pier, Somerset.
Monday 3rd August, 2015.
I recently picked up a Canon EOS M to use as a b-camera for my video work. The camera is crazy cheap just now since its poor auto-focus performance & high launch price meant it took a pounding in early reviews. I got an ex-display model with lens for £169 from John Lewis. A subsequent firmware update has improved the AF, but solid AF performance has never been of great importance to me when looking at stills or video cameras. I'm still getting to grips with it, but I'm very happy with the results so far. Here's my furry brown pal exploring the hills around Llangollen, North Wales.
(Raw file was twiddled with in Photoshop)
Switched my digital camera to Square Format B&W for my morning walk through Plas Power Woods in Wales.
Dewars Whisky - "most invigorating"
Bacardi/Dewars commissioned me to produce an animation to celebrate the launch of their new branding for Dewars Whisky.
I created an animation of two halves. The first section is atmospheric and textural, reflecting the natural cycles that produce the raw ingredients. The second half is bold and dynamic and depicts the three founders - John Snr, John Jnr & Thomas Dewar.
Music is by the wonderful Ziggy Campbell.
You can find images and development stills here.
Merry Christmas everybody.
Let’s all try and be good to one another, at least for a little while… (then we can all go bat-shit crazy as per usual).
Just spent A good few days in London exploring some animation concepts with a new client. This is how we looked at the start of the process.
Big Man - a sketch of a guy waiting for a story.
Here's a little fairytale scene using more silhouetted figures. I'm making these new animations to go alongside my commercial work in a forthcoming showreel. I hope to post the moving versions soon.
Here are a couple of images showing some of the stages involved in creating a short atmospheric scene. I used Photoshop to sketch up the basic composition, create the rocks and clean up an old watercolour of a galleon that I painted 20 years ago.
The man is animated in Anime Studio Pro and the final scene is built in After Effects.
Here's a wee animation I made to accompany a tune by "the Boy Least Likely To" for Absolute Radio. It's a warm tribute to our fallen canine comrades now in that great kennel in the sky. All profits go to the Dogs Trust. Watch it here... http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/onair/geoff/dead-dogs-memorial/ Then go buy the tune!
A fun little image I put together to demonstrate Photoshop layer techniques for an Adobe Generations class I was teaching.
They would if they could....
This is Ludwig. He's having a wee snooze. He's going to be in a little animation I am working on.
Kea the dog, helping me dream up ideas for a new client whilst on a long walk at Kinnaber, Angus.
A little illustration for my new website.
Ice textures found on my morning walk with Kea the dog.
Here's the little Christmas advert for SPT Subway I made with the nice folk at @STVCreative Hope to work with you again real soon!
