i have said it once and i won't stop saying it because it just doesn't stop.

i hate how press photoshops aryna. i hate that sometimes i can't recognize her face not from the make up but for the contour of her face after thinning it. you can't see her arms' muscles it's blended and smoothed. you see curves that are smooth and that do not belong to her body because you cansee the real ones in her tennis kits. they make her THINNER that she already is!! aryna is not fat but she's also not skinny and they just made her even more normative than she is!

kind of driving me insane to not see more of the discussions around vondrousova’s situation take into account the gender politics of it all. as in, the fact that the way doping texts work within tennis is inherently more traumatic for wta players because it is leagues more dangerous for a woman to interact with a stranger, to give a stranger her location, and to potentially have that stranger turn up to her house/accomodation.

all players receive abuse from disgruntled betters or bigots, but it’s very very easy to see that female players get it much worse. I’m sure im preaching to the choir here, but i mean like we’ve heard so many times in tennis where female players are harassed, stalked, even attacked in a way male players very rarely are !!

so like … it’s been wild to see posts from all these tennis instagrams popping up to talk about marketa’s situation and not one has seemed to take this into account?? I have seen some comments mention how she may have been more on edge bc of what happened to kvitova (sustained injuries to her hand from a knife attack during a home invasion in 2016) and the fact petra is also czech, but I haven’t seen anyone take that to the broader conclusion that the world is still incredibly misogynistic and it’s very dangerous being a woman. So even if the test was scheduled, it’s not outlandish to me that someone could panic at a stranger knocking on their door at night !!!!
