Tracy stared at him for a few seconds. “I’m sorry, what?”

“I’m in love with you, and I needed for you to know that. I know there is a slim chance you feel the same, but you needed to know.”

“I’m not joking Savannah, I’m being serious. I love you.”

“You’re not even close to being an old man!” Rosie replied with a laugh as she was pulled inot his embrace. “I just thought maybe you’d like something casual. You know, nothing’ crazy. Plus, I ain’t got the money for a fancy dinner, so pizza and snacks it is.”

“In two more years I will be able to say I am in my mid-twenties. That’s as old as the hills Rosie. As old as the hills!” He was being over-dramatic but what else was there to expect from him. “Casual is great, it is perfect. Plus, can you actually picture us a at fancy dinner? I would be asking for pizza and a beer in jeans.”

“You know that surprises make nervous.” Fidgety, he held his eyes shut tight. “I told you that you didn’t have to get me anything for my birthday.”

“Just a few more steps!” Rosie promised, urging him into the living room. “Alright, open your eyes,” She prompted. Rosie had cleaned up the living room well, packing the coffee table with his favorite snacks, the blanket laden with comforters and pillows. She turned off all the lights, the room keeping its illumination through candles placed throughout the room.

“Rosie --” There was a bright smile on his face, “This is turning into one of those moments when we are going to hug for longer than ten minutes.” He pulled her into a tight hug, “I think I can honestly say that this has got to be the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done. This is a good way to celebrate me being an old man."
