I wish I could talk to you, I wish I was better and I didn't fuck up everything. I'm sorry

J. R. R. Tolkien: no, my books aren't about the war I experienced. It's just a story
J. R. R. Tolkien's works: you cannot go home, war ends entire bloodlines, you are mourning the death of your brother alone, you dug into the earth and permanently scored the land, you cannot explain what you have been through, you cannot go home, "that wound will never fully heal. He will carry it the rest of his life", leaving the women behind does not save them, the young die first, you cannot go home, the parent will bury their child, you have lost the wives and you will never connect with them again, "how shall any tower withstand such numbers and such reckless hate?", you are not the same, you cannot go home, you can never go home, your father will only side with those he sees as worthy bloodlines and you cannot change his mind, it is more meaningful Not to kill, sometimes your sacrifice accomplishes nothing, you cannot go home

Miyazaki’s visual storytelling thrives on a sense of flatness that doesn’t diminish but rather enriches his worlds. By compressing the layers of his compositions—merging the foreground’s details, middle ground’s action, and background’s context—he crafts images that feel like living illustrations. Take the Warawara swarming with dishes in "The Boy and the Heron" or the jubilant feast scene in "Spirited Away" : both are packed with vibrant details, yet the visual plane feels collapsed, like a tableau unfolding all at once. This "flatness" isn't a flaw but a deliberate technique, pulling us into the frame as if we’re unrolling a scroll of visual wonder. It’s not depth that Miyazaki aims for—it’s a sheer density of storytelling in every frame, a reminder that 2D animation’s strength lies in its ability to immerse without imitating.

Driving home tonight a song came on… one that brought back so many memories with you and playing a silly game.
I miss you a lot and most days I’m okay but then something like that happens and I just think back to when life was easier, I sometimes hope that one day you’ll just walk through the door again like what you used to do. I know the dogs would be so delighted to see your face and just jump all over you…. I know it won’t happen and if it did I don’t know how I’d be, probably break down
I hope life is treating you well
Me: I’m gonna rub the werewolf’s belly in that spot werewolves love to be rubbed
DM: Make an animal handling check
Me: YAAAS I HAVE PROFICIENCY IN THIS *proceeds to roll nat 1*
DM: Oh shit. The werewolf looks SUPER angry. I’m gonna say that doesn’t count as an action, anything else you wanna do?
Me: I’m gonna boop it on the nose
DM: Ok… Roll a d20 with double disadvantage
Me: 3
DM: It bites at your fingers. Anything else you wanna do?
Me: Who’s a good dog?
DM: Aright, that’s the werewolf’s turn now. He’s gonna make an attack at Cleric.
Cleric: What, not [Druid] who just failed the belly rub?
DM: Good point. He’s going to bite [Druid]. Roll a constitution saving throw or forever be affected by lycanthropy.
Me: *suceeeds* Noooo I wanted to be a werewolf!
Cleric: I’m gonna get my monkey to hold the statue of the almighty squirrel god Doug and throw him at the werewolf.
DM: As the monkey hits the werewolf with a statue, the fur fades away and you see a small naked gnome man curled up on the floor crying.
Me: I curl up in a ball next to him and also cry.
Cleric: I pick up the body of the goblin we also killed and carry it up to [guy who asked us to kill the goblin]’s office
Me: I pick up the gnome and also carry him to the office
Gnome: I’m a 45 year old man please don’t carry me
Me: I carry him.
