The Mythology still lives rent free in many of our heads (myself included)
I highly recommend this video essay that just came out on Youtube, it covers literally everything about the mythology/ argues for its coherence. It's also almost six hours long and super well done.

Mulder truly the celibate slut representation we deserve. he doesn’t fuck, he watches 80+ hours of porn every week, awkward and bemused when woman actually flirt with him, drops sexual innuendos like his life depends on it, gets called a loser by absolute strangers, in love with his coworker, fled to find mothman when said coworker tried to seduce him, proposed to coworker over the phone, black turtlenecks™, doesn’t own a bed, woman find him hot until he starts talking, loses his shirt every few episodes, has a homoerotic Russian nemesis, feeds his fish instead of going on dates, draws big titty bigfoot, mopes when his girlfriend is out of town, once had sex on Sir Conan Doyle’s tombstone, meets up with a guy called Deep Throat but it’s not what you think, undoubtably has ranked every cryptid by fuckability, that one vampire episode, basically the damsel in a bodice ripper, makes out with Scully’s forehead, visibly turned on whenever ufos are mentioned etc. etc.
I was pretty hooked on The X-Files like five minutes into the pilot episode, but once I watched Ice I knew it was gonna be the only thing living in my brain for the foreseeable future (and I was right)
I've said it before I'll say it again I think Ice is really when everyone figured out what the show was gonna be like (character dynamics etc.). Although the pilot may be one of the best episodes ever

Upon my six-thousandth rewatch of the X-Files I was rewarded with an epiphany: we need be more hilariously strange.
I mean look at Mulder the man will do literally anything (jumping on the train), we can all stand to benefit from being this weird

they should have had an x-files episode where scully and mulder are invited to a wedding by one of their fbi peers and we see them in a nice suit and dress but they get sidetracked by an x files happening at the wedding but also they get to slow dance together and have a whole lot of msr gold moments. just saying.
