When I was in Nepal, I went to an elephant sanctuary and saw this little guy. The little bundles of grass in his front of him were “sandwiches”, brown sugar and salt wrapped in sweet grass, and he was swaying from side to side while he ate, like a little food dance.

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

Mentioned to my mom I'm asexual a couple months ago and today.... we got into the car and she hit me with, "So you use they/them pronouns now?"

I went, "What. no. she/her."

"How does that work? With she/her/hers and they/them?"

I stared at her. "What are you talking about?"

"Well you came out as-" and I said, "I'm asexual."

She replied, "Like an amoeba, I know."

"Oh. My god. No. Mom. It doesn't- it's not the asexual you learned about in biology. I didn't come out as a single celled organism."

"Yes, mom."

What are you supposed to do when you're the type of bored where you don't want to do anything but there's nothing you can do about it either? It's 4 pm and there's five hours of day left and I don't want to sit through them.

Something you want to have done but don't actually want to do? I used to use this logic to get stuff done when I was severely depressed in college: I didn't want to do *anything*, so I might as well do homework. Tomorrow would look a lot better if I did homework than if I did nothing.

Ah yeah that fixed it. Loaded the dishwasher, washed up the handful of stuff that doesn't go there, collected the trash and beverage recycling from my sitting region, and did up my meds organiser. Now much happier to do absolutely nothing.
