*"Trompe-l'œil is an artistic technique that creates a highly realistic optical illusion of three-dimensional space and objects on a two-dimensional surface. Trompe-l'œil, which is most often associated with painting, tricks the viewer into perceiving painted objects or spaces as real. Forced perspective is a related illusion in architecture, and Op art is a modern style mostly dealing with geometric patterns."

The last day, I had the strangest realization. I post to my Tumblr things that I consider "free time drawings" or "drawing for fun". So I´ve posted only a few things about my comics or my animation jobs. Means "real life work". But I have so much extra from all my projects and...well. If my dear followers don't mind, I can post it :D So here is study material for my adaptation of the theatre play RUR, deeply inspired by Zlín industrial area and Zlín museum :)

The king and queen of the realm have seven children, and you are the youngest. You always felt your presence there was insignificant, so one night, you and your girlfriend left without telling anyone. Six months later, your entire family shows up at your doorstep, looking for you.

"Werewolf Pup" by artist Victoria Maderna gouache and watercolor paints on paper.
Can’t reblog the post going round containing these two screenshots:
So I’ll put my addition here:
This also applies to women who complain about feminism requiring them to work, rather than being ‘ladies of leisure’. Women equivalent to them in the past always worked - who do they think were the maids, housekeepers, cooks, nannies, wet nurses, governesses, washerwomen, spinners, weavers, seamstresses, nurses, midwives, etc - and today’s equivalent of the past’s ladies of leisure can afford to be ladies of leisure now. Feminism fought for women’s work to be acknowledged, valued, and fairly paid, and that fight is still ongoing.
You were not an aristocrat or royalty 'in a past life' - you were a peasant.
Sorry to talk about Harry Potter again but when it comes to the slave race that Rowling put in her books, she said she based the house elves off of brownies. You know, those creatures in British folklore that clean your house for you because they like doing it and are offended if you try to pay them?
Why not just put brownies in your story then? Almost identical effect without all the slavery.
If you wanna make the Malfoys look worse just idk maybe they put a spell on Dobby to bind him to their house and he can’t leave unless the malfoys break the rules and they’re bad to him but don’t technically try to break the rules until Harry tricks them into paying dobby with some clothes.
There. Problem solved. You can have hundreds of brownies living at hogwarts even. And when Hermione misinterprets their situation and tries to thank them and start paying them the brownies start getting offended and leaving and this causes an actual problem for the school. Much easier to make a subplot about not listening to the people that you’re trying to help.
Just another way you realize as an adult that these books weren’t really thought through very well.
This also creates another dimension of complexity you could add.
Maybe Harry inherits Kreatcher along with Sirius Black’s house because he’s bound to the house or because he just likes being there. He hates Sirius because he keeps trying to request he do things differently, or maybe he tries to pay him. Maybe Harry learns that when you’re gonna share a space with someone you need to be willing to compromise. His is kind of Kreatcher’s ancestral home too or something.
Maybe the Brownies join in on the final battle of Hogwarts because the death eaters keep trying to get rid of them and they like being here. Or maybe they think they’re doing all the house chores wrong. Or maybe they like taking care of the residents of their house and Voldemort is being very rude to their residents thank you very much.
It’s like such a tiny and obvious thing that could’ve been done from the very beginning to not have a slave race in her book. And yet.
is anyone else annoyed that "ai" encompasses both chatgpt and tools we train to do repetitive tedious work for us. and by the ripple effect of articles like "scientists develop ai to detect cancer early" that make people argue for the merit of chatgpt or become anti-medicine. and by the general state of the world and society
