THE VAMPIRE LET OUT A CONTEMPLATIVE HUM. Golden eyes would sway from one item to the other. Furrowing her brow, the woman would steel herself, as she readied herself for a heavy decision.
With a resolute look on her face, Jeanne stepped forward with purpose. “I would like to order a strawberry crepe with extra cream and chocolate drizzle.”

OVER A HUNDRED YEARS HAD PASSED. Over a hundred years since their last meeting, nearly a hundred more since their first. So much time had passed, almost without notice. A happy, cherished memory, and with the blink of an eye, she was experiencing one of the most traumatic moments of her long, long life.
Golden eyes would fall on the d’Apchier vampire. Pale grey hair and pale blue eyes. She was exactly as she remembered her, all those years ago, before her seemingly endless sleep.
Removing her arm from Carpe Diem, Jeanne would slowly turn towards the girl, hesitantly stepping forward. In the past, she had believed that there was no other way. That she had no choice but to kill her. That it was her responsibility as a Bourreau. That she couldn’t fail again. That Chloé d’Apchier was a curse-bearer, and thus, had to die.
Yet here she was, here before her very eyes. Not only alive, but cured. He had done it. He had kept his promise. He had saved her.
An overwhelming sensation of joy would swell within her chest, alongside another feeling. One that was a distant memory, one she’d nearly forgotten.
Her eyes would quiver at the surge of emotions she had suppressed for so long. Letting out a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding, her lips parted. “ Chloé... ” she spoke up softly as her right hand carefully extended towards the vampire.
“ Come on... Come on... Come on...! ”
The memory of their last encounter resurfaced in Jeanne’s mind. The feel of bitter cold winds lashing against her cheeks as tears welled up in her eyes. The desperate lunge forward in a futile attempt to grab the d’Apchier’s hand as she let herself fall from that cliff. And most of all her own empty hand, trembling from much more than just the cold.
Her face flickered with regret, ashamed of her past self’s inability to grasp what was dear to her and save the only person left she could consider family. She lacked the strength to follow her heart. She had to do what she was told. She had to, or else...
Was it okay? For her to reach out to the other, over a century too late? Her hand would pause as that uncertainty gripped at her mind and her worries clutched her heart. Hesitance holding her still, the will to take back what she thought she had lost was stolen from her, as her outstretched hand would slowly begin to retreat.

STEPPING OUT OF THE BORDER, Jeanne moved forward with intent, quickly exiting the building and stepping onto the streets of Paris. Her gaze remained focused forwards, but in an odd way, like she wasn’t actually looking at what was in her path.
And indeed, she wasn’t at all aware what was before her. No, her mind was elsewhere, focused on what was likely to be the most humiliating experience she would ever have to endure.
After seeking the consult of Dominique de Sade, Jeanne took her advice to heart — that the only way to make that wretched human leave her be once and for all was to undertake a most daring and dangerous mission — pretend she had fallen in love with Vanitas!
After devoting herself to painstaking and tireless acting training — which lasted the entire night — she was to face the toughest opponent she would ever fight... The wily and cunning, Kin of the Blue Moon!
Focus, Jeanne! You need to be ready for anything! You can’t let that terrible man have his way! She thought to herself, moving with purpose but not paying attention. You have to do this — you must! It’s the only way! You’ve survived dozens — no, hundreds of battles! You can do this! Luckily for the Bourreau, her intense expression was enough for oncoming civilians to veer off course and out of her path.
However that didn’t solve the more pressing issue at hand. So intense had her focus been, that she had completely passed the designated meeting spot about 10 minutes prior. Oblivious to her own predicament, the Hellfire Witch was doomed to continue forward aimlessly, should someone not take pity on her and snap her out of her trance.

IT WASN’T OFTEN THE BOURREAU SAW THE BEASTIA outside of the confines of his cage. In fact, she had never seen Loki outside of his cage. So when she saw the man, strolling down the castle corridor, casual as could be, it almost failed to register who he was, and how rare of a sight she was witnessing.
“ ...? ...Master Loki...? ” The words slipped out of her mouth less as a question, and more as verbalized confusion. It took her a moment of staring and blinking to register that her eyes were, in fact, not deceiving her.
As the realization hit her, her body began to move again. “ M-Master Loki?! What are you doing here? “ She stammered as she approached the Oriflamme, stopping before getting too close, keeping a respectful distance from him.

LETTING OUT AN EXHALE OF VISIBLE AIR, the Bourreau quietly watched the mist disperse. During the early weeks of spring, the temperatures at night and in the early morning before dawn could still be low enough for one to see their breath, and tonight was one such night.
Gold eyes would drift along the ground, observing lingering traces of mist that had settled in along the river and drifted into the streets. Silently she would stand there, still as could be. If it weren’t for the occasional exhale, she could be mistaken for a statue.
Today, the Hellfire Witch had been sent across the Border into Paris to carry out her first job since waking from her slumber. Though in truth, it was a test of sorts, to ensure she was still “ functional ”.
She was to carry out her duties as a Bourreau and hunt down a curse-bearer that had reportedly fled Altus upon discovery. Under Chasseur supervision, she was to eliminate the curse-bearing vampire efficiently and without human casualty. Should she fail in this — or worse, lose control and break once more, the Chasseur assigned to accompany her on the hunt no doubt was permitted to take her head.
Succeed or die. Those were her only options.
Letting out another exhale, she’d once more observe her breath vanish without a trace. Her eyes lowered as her thoughts began to wander.
The prickling sensation of the cool evening air was both familiar and foreign. After awaking from her induced slumber, her body was sluggish and her mind hazy. Many things had become unfamiliar to her — the sensation of the cold being one of them. Though she quickly regained control of her body, there was still a lingering offset for some things. In time, it would fade as her body readjusted to being active once more, but for now it remained.
Hearing the sound of distant footsteps, her focus would snap back to the task at hand. Now, it was time to prove herself. To prove that she could still be of use, that she wasn’t a broken tool.
She had to do as she was told.
A multiple fandom, multiple muses (over 50 muses) featuring Olivier of Obsidian from the animanga series known as Vanitas no Carte / The Case Study of Vanitas has arrived to judge everyone with a disapproving face. This blog has been established again in February 2022 but the Mun (Judd/Striker) has been here on this hell site for more than 10 years (on and off).
A simple reblog and/or like would be nice to gather a crowd of followers for Olivier to silently judge! Thank you and I look forward to interacting with you kind souls and bring more positivity to this roleplay community!

OOC. I’m still here, just busy and trying to get everything in place. I’ll try to send some asks out later for some semblance of activity while I’m still working on icons, bio, verses, tags, etc. If you would like perhaps, give this post a little like and I’ll send you and ask!!
BOURREAUS HAVE THEIR FAMILY NAMES STRIPPED FROM THEM. As a vampire is made a bourreau due to their family committing a grave sin, this act symbolically denies the existence of the family line, and strikes the family from history. Not only does this mark those who have been made into bourreaus, it further reinforces that the former vampire is completely isolated and alone
OOC. Oh my gosh my icon style is so pretty! I’m still working on getting everything up and running, hopefully I can start some things later today though!
