The story started with :

A young lady dreaming of her grandmother's adventures

a gentleman fister who gets rowdy with no whimsy, disconnected from his family

a toy maker who lost her reasons to live except for revenge

A pirate settling down away from a curse

A writer drowning in the everyday paw greasing of politics

A old outlaw missing his ex wife

All of them going on one last quest to find a fabled land and an old friend.

It does seem fitting that she died so they all have their new beginning.

Now we have

A young adventurer ready to take on new challenge on her own

A gentleman fister who gets rowdy with whimsy and created new bounds on and outside of his blood family

A captain tinkerer who saved her ghosts and gets to see them live and fall in love

A pirate going on more adventures, more while than ever with her husband pushing her forward

A writer with new stories, new motivation to save his world and a reinforced support

An old outlaw allowing himself to move on

Gotch I love these evolution. It's so fitting for her to die, she was the one who started this adventure but she was in a way the one that was holding them back. But they still needed her to start anew.

like imagine the badass outlaw with a pair of sixshooters in any other setting getting a free shot off before anyone else the second the enemy came into view- so cool! so fast! so epic!

In my anxiety about them being able to grab torse at all, i hadn't fully appreciated how absolutely insane of a choice it is (in-universe) for maxwell to have crossed through, into an alien world covered in tetanus spires with a whole human already on his back, and go as fast as possible down (aware they still won't make it fully w/o comfrey's grappling hook [thinking of the grappling hook at all]) to grab a very tall cast iron man that's probably also deadweight. flying entirely away from his crew and their ship.

and he brings up the friend thing WHILE hes doing that

that's madness. that's whimsy. torse keeps bringing those out in maxwell and i LOVE it.

The idea of a young Maxwell stowing away onto the Zephyr because he wants to see what it's like to Not Stay On The Ground and Van finds him trying his best to sneak around the ship and she just goes Aw Shit We're Already In The Sky What Do I Do With It Now and has to try not to let this small annoying little dapper boy get himself killed. This has been gnawing at my brain since episode one

dates henderhop would go on:

picking flowers. just going into a field together and make little bouquets with flowers that they gift eachother in the end. i hc this especially with younger dustin and jane

getting tattoos. i guess this is more of a one time thing but i just see them get matching tattoos, maybe as well to cover up el's 011 tattoo

build a fort. they'd order pizza, make waffles & buy ice cream, and then they'd build a fort in front of the tv. i see them watching a funny movie no one knows

do each other's hair/makeup/outfit. this fits especially well if you hc them to dress after certain aesthetic (exc: punk dustin, whimsy el, ...). also, jane would love putting cute hairclips in dustin's hair

cook or bake. i think el can barely cook because of, well, the circumstances she grew up in, so i can imagine dustin teaching her. even though i think hopper or will have already taught her how to make waffles, i think really making food isn't her thing, so she just ends up yapping while watching dustin cook

this one isn't a specific date idea, but they'd SO have double dates with steddie!! it just would be cute, fight me

Imagining a world with Henderhop and Lumax and Byler but they have a strict rule that couples' DnD characters aren't allowed to be couples because it would "interfere with the party dynamic".

But Elmax make their characters get together every single campaign without fail. Sometimes it's slow burn and dramatic and sometimes Jane is just like "I am Jane and I am a halfling barbarian and this is my wife Max :)"

if the love triangle with dustin happened in s3 but with henderhop we could have had everything.

not only cause of byler, but dustin would LOVE el. and imagine instead of getting the never ending story dustin declared his love for el in the walkie using cerebro cause he thought she was about to die, and accidentally told everyone BUT el. and like the ending scene of s3 could have been them getting together. basically something like the mike and el scene at the end of s3 but dustin actually fucking cheers. el saying she found out what dustin said, him getting flustered, she kisses him, and he does stay put kinda like mike but with the BIGGEST smile in his face.

and their conflict in s4 could have been something about el being scared dustin only likes her cause of her powers and to study her brain and stuff for scientific purposes. and she is like “you only are with me cause you think im some sort of superhero, just like everyone else” and dustin says “i couldn’t care less about if you had powers or not, even less if you were a superhero. i’m with you cause you are jane hopper and that’s better than what any superhero could ever aspire to be”

consider, if you will, El showing up - apparently unaccompanied - to Scoops Ahoy. Steve has enough time to realize oh, El's here, but that's about as far as he gets before she storms up, slams her hands down on the counter, looks him dead in the eyes, and says; "i want to buy flowers. for Dustin. do you know what he likes?"

Steve goes from o_o to O_O real fast. (he says he'll help her figure out a bouquet for Dustin) (he's also freaking the fuck out internally (El is buying Dustin flowers!!! El likes Dustin!!! Steve's little buddy!!!))

(Steve does in fact help her with the bouquet. he hangs out with Dustin before she plans to give it to him and spends the entire time trying not to smile like an idiot. Dustin is incredibly suspicious.)

Hopper: comes home from work

checks Jonathan’s room Door: closed

Hopper: grumbles, but can’t really do anything about it since he’s technically an adult now

moves to Will’s room Door: open exactly three inches

Hopper: narrows eyes. pushes it open slightly

Will and Mike: on the bed. Will tucked into Mike’s arms, sketchbook balanced on his knees. They’re definitely a little too close for Hopper’s comfort, but objectively harmless.

Hopper: low warning grumble

Mike: spots Hopper in the doorway and gives him a thumbs-up

Hopper: deepens frown. retreats.

moves on to Jane’s room Door: closed

Hopper: face immediately turning red Hopper: “Oh, hell no.”

storms in, prepared for the absolute worst

Dustin and Jane: lying on the floor, a very respectable distance apart, aggressively nerding out over a book about space

Dustin: “—and that’s why Saturn has—”

Dustin and Jane: *look up*

Hopper: short-circuits Hopper: “Uh. Yeah. Fine. Just—keep the door open three inches!”

Jane: “Sure, Dad.”

Dustin: looks Hopper dead in the eye and gives him the most diabolical grin imaginable because he 100% closed the door on purpose

Hopper: walks away with extrem grumbling

Henderhop headcanon that El isn’t a big fan of completely dark rooms and confined spaces because it reminds her of the deprivation tank so when she sleeps at night she usually leaves a lamp on and when Dustin noticed he got a whole bunch of glow in the dark stars that he put on her ceiling making real constellations (completely accurate because he’s a closet astronomy nerd) so that she not only had the light but also could feel like she was under the open sky.
