OP HOW CAN YOU NOT ADD THE BEST PART OF THIS TWEET THREAD
Thats terrifying put it back
I love books and ebooks both, but no one ever talks about how much better for the environment ebooks are!
This is also my like 345,312,192 reminder that if you haven’t looked to see if your library district is on Overdrive, you absolutely should! My library recently came out with audiobooks for learning languages and intro level college courses from professors at schools like MIT! It’s so amazing and completely free! I’ve been listening to these really incredible lectures on Mind/Body Philosophy every spare 30 minutes I can find!
All I want in life is my own library
I’ve put the prints of these 3 illustrations on my Etsy shop! 5 euro each - A4 size.

When you turn your reading into a self care activity:
Do not underestimate reading as a self care practice if it makes you feel better. Read escapist books if they’ll speak to your soul when you need it. Find emotional books that’ll make you feel less alone. Pick up funny books if you need a little cheering up. Take these words that people meticulously strung together for you and take comfort in them.
The best studying advice I have ever received
If you can’t find the motivation to get to work on something, force yourself to pick it up for just two minutes. The key word is force; procrastination is tempting, but keep in mind that there is nothing physically stopping you from doing what you have to do.
After those two minutes, if you still do not want to keep going, put it away and go do something else. Even if you stop after two minutes, you will have two minutes worth of knowledge that you did not have before.
More likely than not, though, those two minutes will make it easy to just keep going. Often times, the hardest part is getting started.
“I’m old-fashioned and think that reading books is the most glorious pastime that humankind has yet devised.”
— Wisława Szymborska
When you finished a great book and all you can do is sit holding it close to you
“You have risen from the ashes before. The only way to survive, “ he said, “is to believe you always will.”
— Samantha Shannon, The Song Rising (via legendarywinnergiver)
Warden always gets the best quotes. I always repeat this to myself when things are tough.
“The mad woman has been used as a trope for centuries by writers, but more often as a walk-on part: we are allowed short, horrifying glimpses of the mad Ophelia and the hallucinating Lady Macbeth, before they are hurried to their deaths; Bertha Rochester escapes her attic prison to cause fires and havoc, and is then put back before she, too, is sent to death. What ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’ does is give the mad woman pen and paper, and ultimately a voice of her own. We hear from her, directly and in detail.”
— Introduction by Maggie O'Farrell to The Yellow Wallpaper
I just finished one of the books on my bookshelves… that clearly means I’m allowed to buy five more books. Right?
I’ve never identified with a post more
