selfcare is not only bubble baths, face masks and drinking nice coffee.
sometimes selfcare means breaking up with your toxic significant other or a toxic family member.
sometimes selfcare means investing more money in fresh fruits and less in candy and takeout.
sometimes selfcare means reading more books and sitting less in front of screens.
sometimes selfcare means turning off notifications.
sometimes selfcare means motivating yourself to workout and sweat the shit out of you.
sometimes selfcare means facing your fears and stop procrastination to achive your academical goals.
sometimes selfcare means telling your friends that what they do is wrong & harmful and just be brutally honest to them for their own good.
sometimes selfcare means seeing a therapist.
sometimes selfcare means pulling yourself out of a depressive episode.
sometimes selfcare means to stop when youre exhausted and make a new plan.
physical selfcare is necessary, but mental selfcare should be your priority. your body doesnt follow where your mind wont push it. you need to leave your comfort zone because you know you deserve and can do better.

+ Wake up early! It's hard, but if you want a productive routine, you have to wake up early. Don't worry- no one forces you to wake up at 5 a.m. But how does 6 a.m. sounds like? So comme on, darling! Make your bed to start your day with an already finished task.
+ But first, coffee!
When you wake up, drink some coffee to get your day started.
+ Take care of yourself!
While the coffee is being prepared, let's do some skincare! Wash your face by the time you get out of bed. It will wake you up, and make your skin look great! Do some skincare, every day, when you wake up. It's worth investing your money in a few but good products. I recommend a face soap or a cleansing oil, a face wash, some moisturiser, and vitamin C for sérum.
+ Gym / home workouts! Go do your workout girl! To be fit and healthy. Workout releases endorfins that make you feel more happy, and some sweat will make you feel mentally stronger, which is great if you want to conquer your dreams.
+ Breakfast You will realize that eating healthy makes such a difference in your routine. It doesn't have to be a full-course meal as long as it's nourishing and delicious.
+ Plan
Start your day by planning your day. Organize everything, just write it down! By writing your tasks down and looking at it from another perspective sure does help you cleaning your mind.

The "that girl" or "pinterest girl" or "green juice girl" trend on tiktok is basically turning a wellness mood board into a lifestyle. "That girl" wakes up early, works out, makes breakfast for herself, drinks water, and is focused and gets the things she needs to get done, done. She prioritizes her mental health and enriches her mind in some way shape or form.
Now, with all movements like this, there are going to be people who come out of the woodwork with negativity (because people just can't let other people enjoy things, obv). I've seen people leave all sorts of comments from "This is unrealistic" to "Nobody lives this way" and a lot more obscene and downright unnecessary comments.
Personally, I like this trend. It's inspiring girls to get up and take the day into their own hands. It's encouraging them to care for themselves by moving their bodies, getting enough water, and eating whole foods. Of course, there are some extremes to this trend like there are with anything, like working without breaks and depriving yourself of things you want. But at the core, I think it's supposed to show people that a healthy lifestyle is attainable at every level.
And for the people who say that this sort of life is unrealistic, to whom? It's impossible to wake up early and work out? Or to make a smoothie? Or drink enough water? Nobody is putting this much effort into taking care of themselves and cultivating health and longevity? If you don't know a SINGLE person who's able to do that, I implore you to find better people to hang around. Living well isn't nearly as hard as some people would want you to believe.
The only major thing that makes me side-eye this trend like most trends is that it's overwhelmingly white. Just like cottagecore or dark academia, there isn't a lot of representation under this tag.
Who knows, maybe I'll create the black girl and woc version and call it the "it girl" trend lol.

The "that girl" trend was something that I recently came across on TikTok. That girl is described as that one girl we all know that seems to have her entire life together, has the perfect work-life balance, prioritizes her health, has this calm aura around her that just makes you hope that even a fraction of her essence will rub off on you. I like the that girl trend because it's like the hot girl summer trend, but it's more focused on wellness and becoming your best self.
Becoming "that girl" is something I think is attainable if you're willing to be dedicated to the lifestyle. It will involve breaking some pre-existing bad habits, and adopting some newer alternatives, but I believe it will overall benefit and enhance your life. So here's @angelicallyafrican's guide to becoming ✨that girl✨
Create a morning routine
A ✨that girl✨ morning routine would look something like:
Waking up early (between 6-8 am)
Making the bed
Opening the blinds/curtains to let the light in
Doing a page in your Five Minute Journal
Doing some sort of intentional movement (weight lifting, going on a walk/run, doing yoga or pilates, etc)
Having a healthy breakfast that nourishes your body
Drinking LOTS of water
Spraying a beautiful fragrance
Getting dressed in an outfit that makes you feel good
Going over your to-do list
Starting your work or school day

✨I do this before bed every night and just after a week I’ve started to notice a difference✨
~50 crunches
~50 leg lifts laying on side both legs
~100 punches (laying on back punching into the air) alternating arms
~100 bicycles (laying on back) alternating legs
~50 lifting legs laying on back both legs at the same time
~Lifting legs as low as possible, keeping ankles together, writing out the alphabet X2
~50 more crunches

Drink water and/or tea
Stretch
Go for a jog/walk
It can be on the treadmill or out at the park, try and do it for 30 minutes (only if you can and have time in the morning)
Shower
When washing your hair only apply shampoo to the roots of your hair and only apply conditioner to the bottom of your hair and try and leave that in for a minute
Moisturise body
Get dressed
Don’t just throw on jeans and a t-shirt, get some inspiration from magazines or maybe your favourite tv show and try and dress as stylish as possible.
Accessorise
Clean your face
Try and use a PH balanced cleanser, if your cleanser isn’t PH balanced then use a toner after cleansing
Moisturise face
Brush your teeth
Floss
Use a mouth wash
Put on deodorant
Apply lip balm
Apply makeup
Style hair
If you style your hair with a straightener, hair dryer, or curler use a heat protective spray
When you get home
Take off makeup
Makeup wipes actually dry out your skin, if you have a cleanser that takes off makeup use it
Moisturise
Brush hair
Start from the bottom of your hair and work your way to the top to avoid breakage
Put on comfy clothes
If you can, try to keep them as stylish as possible
Clean your room
clean all your sheets, pillow cases and blankets
get rid of things you don’t need
make sure all clothes are folded and put away
vacuum/mop floor
make sure all surfaces are wiped down and there isn’t dust collecting anywhere
clean windows
make sure everything in your room is in its place
check under neath bed for any rubbish
if you have cupboards full of things get rid of what you don’t use and organise everything left
spray some room freshener, or light some incense or a candle
make your bed

Brush, floss and use a mouth wash
You can also ass baking soda to your toothpaste for extra wight teeth

Paint your nails and toenails, make sure to clip them as well if needed

Drink 2L water a day
Wear a face mask every 3 days
Pluck your eyebrows (if you want to)
Tan once a week (if you want to)
