THE PITT S2
i'm gonna watch animal kingdom for shawn hatosy aren't i
The writers of award winning show The Pitt had the BALLS to have their main character cruelly belittle a fan-favourite subordinate over her "mommy issues" and then waited THREE WEEKS to drop an off-hand comment about the reason why that might have happened. They DELIBERATELY avoided having a clichéd self-aware protagonist giving exposition about his tragic upbringing to explain his actions. They had another fan-favourite Dana refuse to let him off the hook even after she learned about it. They CHOSE to reveal the back story after the fallout because that adds a million more nuances and ideas and possible interpretations.
They gambled on the audience being able to piece things together and gave people the opportunity to reflect on their own biased responses towards previously decontextualised behaviours - a lesson we ALL need to learn because LIFE is just a series of decontextualised behaviours.
All for kids on tumblr dot com to call it bad writing
my new entertainment is seeing ******* mad because **** has getting more fans and praises and them watching that with their own eyes that normal people don't fall into their smear campaign lmao
a duo i made up
jury duty is actually so good???!?!?!!??
people be digging a nonexistent reasons just to justify liking "problematic" media like girl it's okay to like TSH you don't have to justify why they did what they did they killed their friend because he's annoying and sometimes the beauty is in the tragicity of it all
may i offer you something? the first time The Character see brendon smiles (and maybe they are the one who makes him smile too and they're so proud of themselves for it) 👉👈
watching fandom from afar is so crazy. y'all are so worked up for made up people. like come on none of them are real all of these are FICTION!!!
the great thing about the pitt is that it's a show of infinite nuance where every character has moments in the right and in the wrong and no one is irredeemable but also no one is unassailable. the terrible thing about the pitt is that you have to watch people raised by the bad faith no nuance everything-contains-a-moral-failing social media landscape of the 2020s interact with it and enough of that will make you want to join robby and abbot on the roof
I was joking a little bit here, but imo the most unsettling aspect of the discourse surrounding the pitt is that there seem to be a not-insignificant number of viewers who see a character do something not good (i.e. lose their temper, express bias towards a patient or colleague, abuse substances, react emotionally to a situation that requires logic) and decide that one failure or a series of related failures makes that character irredeemable as a person
there is ofc a natural impulse to be like well it doesn't actually matter because it's fiction, except for the particular attitude I'm talking about aligns strongly with a view I've seen a lot online, especially among younger people, that one moment of moral failing means that a person is Bad and that they will be Bad Forever and there is nothing that person can possibly do to redeem themselves. the social media panopticon has fried our brains and we have to remember that fucking up once, or even fucking up a bunch of times, does not mean that a person is incapable of improvement or not worthy of empathy in the meantime
at the risk of sounding overly sincere, the pitt asks us to believe in the complexity of each person and everyone's ability to improve with care and patience and decency. to watch the show in the opposite spirit is to miss the point entirely

I thought everyone was against ai in majority but these bitches are using ai to make their ship kiss and it’s getting thousands of likes and engagement

Piping hot take: I don't give a shit if straight actors play queer characters as long as they do so with empathy and authenticity. When you say shit like "only queer actors should play queer characters" what you're actually saying is only OUT queer actors should play queer characters. If you're assuming an actor (or anyone else, for that matter) who hasn't declared their sexuality is straight, you are participating in heteronormativity.
