Oh yeah, in my first months of living in Canada (I was visibly Not An Adult, to the point where ppl pointed out my age fairly frequently) I got asked "Have you seen the war", multiple times, after maybe three lines of dialogue, by customers. As small-talk.
My name is very obviously non-western, so when people ask my name, they ask where I'm from, and then, yeah. Also, I have a slight accent, so no matter what, people will ask.

every time I come across a post that talks about how terrifying the concept of The Pale is, I am debating whether or not this is a relateable take for me. Cuz yeah, in theory I’m like, yeah it’s, uh, bad. But on an emotional level? I learned about the pale and was like, the world’s gonna end in the most bleak way imaginable, gotcha, and moved on with the game.
Like, yeah, the Pale is a cool concept worldbuilding wise. But, as someone with a history of chronic anxiety, that’s just like, my Tuesday afternoon. When the pandemic hit, my anxiety levels actually *went down*, cuz FINALLY the outer circumstances matched my inner anxiety.
