This originally started off as a drawing for day 2 of @mabgravesart challenge #mabsdrawlloweenclub prompt list, which I did in ink for Inktober, however it quickly escalated into something much bigger than that! I always knew that I would finish this drawing late due to most of the prompts I wanted to do clashing with a hiking holiday I was going on (during which I was going on three nine-mile hikes with insane elevation in a row, with only a couple of hours if that at the end of each day to work on art) but I had no idea just how long it would take me to finish it! I have decided that I hate stippling very much and will never use it as a shading method ever again! (This is a lie, by the way - I may hate doing stippling, but I do love the results it gives).
On the day the prompt was for, I only managed to draw the base sketch, which went fairly easily, but I just didnāt have the time to start drawing early on in the day. I intended to draw him much smaller than this, to make him more of a sketch that I was really only doing for the sake of the prompt, but he somehow ended up bigger than I intended. I thought I could handle him, but with this being my first stippled-ink drawing, I was nowhere near prepared for just how long stippling took. I was also quite apprehensive while inking, because Iām not used to using so permanent a medium.
I am very pleased with how he came out, though. All the individual dots were worth it, even if I did feel like I was fighting for my life at the end!
