“…on the opening night of the production [They Came to a City], Helen wore an attractive scarf that Peter had painted for her. Cast member Roberta Hubey had borrowed it to show a friend who happened to be a textile manufacturer. This unusual series of events led to Cushing getting side work creating a series of scarves for retail sales. Even more amazingly was that one of Peter’s designs was accepeted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the future Queen ‘Mum’.”
