Kayla smiled a soft unsure smile. She knew how much her girlfriend had been dreading this, and it certainly didn’t make Kayla look forward to it much either, and still, Frankie’s parents couldn’t be as bad as Kayla’s. “I promise I’ll be on my best behaviour,” she rasped out before feeling her leg being nudged by Brutus. “Brutus, bleip. Pass Auf.” The dog looked up at her, and then at Frankie before lowering his head and turning around to lay at the foot of Kayla’s bed. “Come on, lets get out of here,” she said as she shut the door behind her and led Frankie down to the bottom of the mansion. Once they were in a cab, Kayla began asking questions. “So.. what should I be expecting?”
“Why don’t I believe you?” Frankie joked, her hand slipped carefully into Kayla’s. Brutus gratefully reminded them that they had somewhere to be, and she waved and called out a goodbye to him as they made their way out the door. She would be sure to bring him a snack from dinner. Settled in the cab, Frankie fidgeted nervously, eyes stuck to the buildings as they drove by. “Well...it shouldn't be bad. They’ll ask you questions, possibly tell an embarrassing story or two...” she trailed off, a light smile on her face. “Possibly joke that I should go back to school, the usual parent things.” Frankie didn’t mention the potential thinly veiled comments if she drank more than a polite single glass of wine. “Are you worried about anything specific? They do seem excited to meet you, they’ve been asking to. I’m sure they’ll love you.”
