YOU don’t have to be perfect to be loved. but I do
Like a month ago I messaged a craft group about accessibility for wheelchairs and the answer I got was “there’s a lot of stairs but we have cute boys who can carry you”. And it’s…not good. As a wheelchair bound person I largely depend on people when I want to go out and do *anything* so I’m used to it, I laugh it off, make an annoyed post about it and off I go. But I wanna just say a thing real quick.
Even if I wasn’t gay, wasn’t a survivor scared of men, getting help as a disabled person is just…Not a pleasant thing to us! Imagine for a sec how you’d feel being carried up a flight of stairs. You’re a grown person. You’re being touched in an awkward way. You’d rather do it yourself. You’re So Uncomfortable. It’s not where I look for the beginning of a romantic relationship. So like…could abled people stop doing this thing where they think helping us in a condescending and infantilizing way is cute? Cause I’m real tired. Just get me a ramp or lift and I’m cool. I don’t need a dating service when I’m just trying to go about my day
If you’re abled please reblog it cause like…the more ppl knows the better
Even if it wasn’t insulting, its also not safe! Many people are too large to be carried by one person, ESPECIALLY on stairs. Anything that blocks the vision or throws off the center of balance of the person climbing the stairs dramatically increases the risk of falling. That means even piggy backing a 30 pound child, probably the safest form of carrying someone on stairs, is not safe! Unless you have proper equipment (a gurney with straps) and people trained to use it, carrying someone up and down the stairs is risking injury and death for all people involved.
Just outright say it isn’t accessible and try to figure out what can be done to fix that. Being cutesy makes it clear that accessibility isnt being taken seriously and people are right to be mad about it.
What are the odds?
KKK said the same thing about the hoods.
i’m pursuing a career as a pastry chef and i enjoy making sweets for the people i love. if one more person starts waxing hysterical about the dangers of sugar and fat and calories in response to me making something nice for them i’m gonna become a real life batman villain.
like they almost always DO want the sweet in question, so it’s not a matter of disliking the gift. but they feel the need to perform this whole display of guilt and shame about it. and it’s super awkward and uncomfortable.
it’s not black tar heroin. it’s a cookie. i made it with love. it will not kill you. if you don’t want it that’s perfectly okay. but at least have the same grace and manners you would if you were rejecting any other gift, alright?
Not sorry but a sentiment like "Israel is causing antisemitism and turning people against Jews" is absolute bullshit.
If you have prejudiced views against an entire minority, then you are just a racist and a bigot, and you always have been, no matter what excuse or justification you want to gloss it with. Nothing actually makes racism the moral choice. Take responsibility for your shitty opinions.
You will never be locked and loaded. You will never say "uhh in English please?!" to an egghead. You will never have a team. You will never knock out a guard with one punch. You will never rappel down anything
Honestly, y'all, I'm begging you. Take the time to think and learn for yourself. Even if it's just something casual like knitting or cooking. Exercise your brain. It's important.
i’m only on reddit for r/Kevin
