Any Jiang Cheng fic recs?
Inevitably my Jiang Cheng fic recs are also Yunmeng Shuangjie fic recs because I do have my priorities, so I apologize if that’s not what you’re looking for. Here is a list of some of my recent (and old) jc centric favorites:
everything else is spring bound ; some good mistakes ; with absolute splendor ; punctuated on all sides by the absolutely incomparable writing goals of all goals @veliseraptor ; jc is having a time working through his feelings in some amount of 4K to 43K words. worrying about wwx! working with lwj because he’s worried! absolutely infuriated by all of this! wedding planning shenanigans! just a superb collection of jc goodness. mostly post-canon except for the last one. read them! if you’ve read them already, read them again!
promises made, promises broken and overcoming the distance by @doubletan ; post-canon night hunting gone wrong! wwx doing empathy on jc! jc and wwx slowly finding a way to bridge that distance between them! jc realizing his place in wwx’s life never went away! just all of my favorite tropes and jc growing and healing. the best.
plea from a cat named little plum blossom by rolameny ; jc has feelings and also he gets a cat. yes that’s my summary.
brave enough to breathe ; while i’m in this body (chengqing / nc-17) ; to do whatever must be done ; impossible with two hands, no more impossible than one by @souridealist ; extraordinarily written series set in a universe where yu ziyuan does chop off wwx’s hand. it saves exactly no one and jc still loses his core. i love this series so much! it hurts, it’s brutal, it’s perfect. first two are more jc pov but i linked all four because they should all be read.
no one lights a candle to remember by @asravine ; jc feeling feelings about wwx as he is very much wont to do and trying to deal with that.
black shroud by spiritlure ; another night hunt goes wrong because i do love this theme very much. also the prose is beautiful and it made my cry.
parley by cafecliche ; wedding shenanigans while jc works through his, you guessed it, feelings about wwx. not as kind or soft as some of these others but hey, they’re dumbasses and they’ll get there. there’s two more in this series if you’d like to read them but this is the jc pov one.
your slightest look easily will unclose me by RedWritingHood ; jiang cheng and hanahaki disease! basically jc throws up flower petals when he’s happy. cue wwx and jl. one of my absolute favorites. instant serotonin.
for both of us (and time is but a paper moon) by sami ; ongoing remix of the famous paper moon fic in which jc and lwj time travel this time and have a chance to avert catastrophe. it’s complete and currently updating every two days (should be fully posted in a few weeks). if you haven’t read the original and time is but a paper moon including all of the side fics, you should. excellent jc content in all of it. just a great ensemble cast. i adore this series and verse very much.
attempting the impossible by ariaste ; jc finds out he has a great number of nephews and nieces he has never met before and has some serious opinions about this. jc is a good uncle and good with babies.
but love is impossible & it goes on despite the impossible by @gaysarawat ; jc and his feelings in the midst of wedding planning shenanigans because i have a type and it’s this. jc learning he is not nearly as alone as he feels and it’s beautiful.
