God is petty...
Upset?
If so, GOOD it means you love you’re creator. No matter if you are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, etc. this comment may irritate you a little bit. But before you get upset at me, please hear me out fully and clearly and I’m sure you will agree with me more than you don’t.
And to be clear let me first start off by saying that this blog post is not meant in any shape, form, or fashion to disrespect anybody or religion, and I will do my best to not single any one belief out as I make my point.
First off there is definitely something missing in the title God is Petty…
There is a lot missing from the title to be accurate. As we dissect what is missing lets stick to what we learned in elementary school on how to do a great report and stick to the who, when, where, and why of the topic. This will give us the most logical reasoning behind what we will quickly learn.
WHO?
It’s safe to say the only who that matters (lol). God, creator, Yahweh, Allah, etc. whatever anybody calls him it doesn’t matter it is all one in the same unless you believe in many Gods (or no God at all). But lets assume for the purpose of being logical that we all believe in one supreme being who is responsible for life as we know it.
WHAT?
Pettiness… As corny as it sounds, lets start with the definition of petty and then I will give you an example.
Petty – not very important or serious, relating to things that are not very important or serious, committing crimes that are not very serious.
If your friend loaned you a thousand dollars and then asked for it back after (lets say) a year. You would understand and if you had it would quickly pay them back and even apologize for being so late in your repayment. But if that same friend loaned you a dollar a year beforehand and even if you had a thousand dollars in your pocket at the time. You would find it very petty if they asked for that dollar back. You would happily pay them their dollar back and remind yourself to never borrow money from them and it would almost assuredly compromise the future of your relationship.
When?
Since the beginning... Of at the least mankind. This conversation isn’t whether God was created by somebody or something. Or not be used for an argument for those that don’t believe in God. Our beginning meant that a lot was here before we ever arrived. So when for us is when mankind began and that is so long ago that we have no record of it.
I don’t care what any of your religious books say there is no record of when mankind first started. I won’t call the books fairy tales out of respect but at the best they are theories. They hold no proof and that is all I want to deal with here.
WHERE?
This is the most interesting topic because to us as humans; where? Only means here on earth or our galaxy I’m guessing. But in reality the world God created is beyond our comprehension. So beyond our comprehension that the hubble telescope in 1995 was pointed at a small dark point in the sky for ten days to see how far they can see out. The results were astounding. They discovered millions of galaxies with billions of their own stars and planets. If you are brave and want to feel insignificant check out this video for an easy explanation of what took place.

The point here is that, where is so big for us that we cannot even start to understand it. Which is definitely by the definition of petty, not petty lol.
WHY?
This is my favorite of this breakdown because it to me holds the truth in all of this... Why?
Why did God decide to create us? Why did he decide to create the world? Our galaxy? Our planet? Us?
My answer is we have no clue. We may never have any clue or may get one when we die. But right now we have absolutely no clue at all.
Too many of the religions we are the center of Gods world. But to me that is very cocky of us.
Think about it... We are the only creatures on earth, that can be substituted for any other creature and the earth would be better for it. It is gonna take you a long time to prove this wrong. You can replace each human with a million roaches, rats, snakes, and mosquitos and earth would be greater for it. Hell, we can go extinct and Earth would be fine. And again that is just on earth. Remember a small patch in the sky proved that God was busy.
So now lets break this all down:
According to many, God punishes and rewards...
Many people believe that God cares about what I consider the smallest things. According to them he would send us to hell of all places for using cuss words, getting tattoos, or our sexual orientation. Now let’s take that in please… There is a God. The creator of all that we see and don’t see. We live on a planet that he created, in a galaxy that he designed, bound by space that leaves the most intelligent of us confused… But he cares every-time I say fuck or shit.
I’m not saying this to be funny. I’m just really trying to understand how God could really be mad at somebody for using ink to place Psalms such and such on their body… Or maybe it’s not a sin if you are getting a tattoo of his words. Maybe God on judgment day checks your whole body for tattoo’s and piercing and when he comes across words that he placed into men’s minds to write, he say’s oh no it’s cool.
Would God really give you 100 hundred virgins for dying in his name? Would you have to marry them all before having sex with them? Does he really need us to tell him thank you, or sing him songs? Is who we have sex with really on his mind?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, it’s you who are calling God petty. Now let’s add what my title is missing, YOUR God is petty.
My God is everlasting. My God’s minute is worth more than a million human lifetimes. My God has created billions of different species just on Earth. Billions and billions of galaxies. The air that I breathe, the water that I drink, even the wood to the paper I wrote this on, (and yes I did write it by hand). So now that you’ve heard me you know that I am no atheist, I am no Christian either, nor Muslim, or any other religious entity that claims they know my God. I don’t follow them, because I know they lied. They don’t know my God, they belittle him. They make us the center of a universe that would probably be better off without us. They kill in the name of my God when it is their own hatred and fear that they hold. They make my God petty.
But this isn’t my fight anymore, because I’ve learned to stop listening and to start leading, as My God would expect of me… So whose fight is it? Who’s God are they insulting now? I say, it is yours, because they have made YOUR GOD PETTY.
If you got this far I appreciate it and whether good or bad would love to hear how you feel about this. My goal is to provide food for thought and the only way to allow people digest it is through conversation. Expect a new blog topic from me every two weeks. Sundays between 11am and 1pm and please follow me on Facebook, instragram, and twitter @freemynds.
Thank you,
