Hi! My name is Ivy and I'm a sophomore in high school who has been learning game development for 5 years! I've always created throw away games and random programs for game jams or for school, but recently I decided something for myself. This past year has been really bad for me seeing as I had started suffering from depression towards the beginning of my freshman year and it spanned all the way until around April of this year. I had tried everything to distract myself such as streaming, drawing, and even trying to workout everyday but it seemed like nothing was working. This was until one day I had come up with a cool story idea for a game. Now it wasn't strange for me to come up with game concepts all the time, but I usually just forgot about them later on in the day. This time, however, was different. I sat there and thought to myself, "You know what? I'm going to actually do this! I'm gonna make this into a game." And so I started Free Reign. I had my friend join on as the artist and now this duo of 15 year-olds are trying to accomplish what many have given up on.
Free Reign is a fantasy rpg where you juggle the responsibility of trying to win the crown from you father, the king, and try to save the world and free it from its grasp. You play as a group of friends which include Delilah, a princess; Orion, a knight; Sunnie, a tavern waiter; and Eros, the co-owner of the biggest casino in town.
The Backstory is as goes:
In another world, perhaps another universe, there were four kingdoms on a big island. These four kingdoms were ruled by two gods and two goddesses respectfully. Hevalon, ruled by the love god Donovan, Caligo, ruled by the death god Malcom, Luceras, ruled by the light goddess, Lumen, and Elysium, ruled by the life goddess, Eloma. Even though the gods and goddesses would bicker among themselves at times, the kingdoms mostly lived in harmony. On this island, everything runs off magical energy called “Exos”. The plants, people, and even the Gods and Goddesses need it to sustain their magical energy. Below the rulers of the four kingdoms live many creatures and species that need this energy just as much as their rulers. Therefore, the energy was always divided equally, naturally produced around the island from deep underground. This was meant to never change to continue the cycle of harmony among the four kingdoms forever, but things don’t always go to plan.
