Dean: I know. I think about them, too. Every day, but what happened – it`s never going to stop hurting, but if we don`t keep living, all that … their sacrifice … what was it for?

Onscreen

Dean: Yeah. Yeah, no. I think about 'em, too. You know what? That pain's not gonna go away. Right? But if we don't keep living, then all that sacrifice is gonna be for nothing.

Sam looks to Dean, who leans up against the post. Breathing hard. Sam`s eyes find his brother … something`s wrong…

Sam: Dean?

Dean: The kids – they safe?

Sam nods. Dean smiles.

Dean: Good. That`s good.

And we see – BLOOD. Spreading across his shirt. Sam`s eyes go wide.

Onscreen

Sam beheads the last Vamp and puts his machete away, not realising something is wrong yet.

Sam: Let's go find those kids, get them outta here.

Dean: Sam... I don't... Mm. I don't think I'm going anywhere.

Sam: What? What are you talking about?

Dean: There's something in my...Something in my back. It feels like it's right through me.

Sam goes to Dean and very carefully reaches around his back. His hand comes back bloody.

Sam: Here, let me --

Dean: No, don`t. You move me – that thing feels like it punched pretty much all thae way  trough. I think it`s just about the only thing holding me together right now, so … You move it, I`m gone quick.

Onscreen

Sam: Alright. Um... Hold on. Okay. Uh, I got you.

Dean: No, no, no, no, no. Don't... Don't... Don't move me. Don't move me. It feels like this thing's holding me together right now. Just give me... Just give me a minute.

Sam: I … I`ll call an ambulance.

Dean: Closest hospital`s forty miles. Don`t think they`re gonna make it.

Sam: Then – I`ll get the first aid kit, just –

Dean: Sam, stop. It won`t help, it – I`m sorry.

Sam: Dean --

Onscreen

Sam: Yeah. Um... alright. I'll call for help. I'll get the first-aid kit.

Dean: Sam, Sam! Sam... Stay wi- Stay with me. Can you stay with me, please?

Sam: Okay. Yeah.

Dean: I need you to... I need you to promise me. I need you to... To... to tell me... that it's okay. I need you to tell me that it's okay.

Sam: (crying) No.

Sam places his hand over Deans.

Sam: Dean… it's okay. You can go now.

Foreheadtouch.

Dean: Goodbye, Sam. Goodbye.

Dean`s head falls onto Sam`s shoulder.

We`re BEHIND DEAN, as a BOOT drops into frame. A footstep. Dean hears it – turns – and his eyes go wide to see… SAM.

Dean looks out over the water. Then he smiles, the moment he feels Sam`s arrival. He know`s before he`s even turning around.

The special was decent. Thoughts in no particular order:

1. Anita was the highlight. Thought they were about to ship her off to an early companion retirement at UNIT but working at the time hotel is at least different I guess. Would have been nice if she got to go on an adventure or two at least. I mean, the doctor made friends with her and at the end the idea was he needed a friend, so why not her? Kinda feels like it undercuts the doctor's character growth this episode if he just doesn't do the thing.

2. Trev was also great. Wish he had more screen time.

3. Joy was kind of lame. Generally like the actress, but she was phoning it in or something. But also her character was kind of meh. Her whole "lonely woman" thing wasn't really developed. Came out of nowhere with the nicest version of the doctor suddenly being incredibly cruel. Yes, for a reason, but it felt really awkward in context. We needed more time with her before that moment. There were maybe one or two too many side characters this episode. Combining Joy and Anita or Joy and Trev would probably have worked better.

4. Didn't really feel like a Christmas special throughout. Not enough time in London at Christmas 2024, but that wasn't a huge deal. Just different.

5. The overall story was good. Feel like they were going for a scale that would have worked better as a two-parter. Didn't spend quite enough time in most places or on most ideas to really be thematically satisfying at the end, but they still managed to eke a tear out of me at the end (before I lost it laughing at the Bethlehem reveal). It was a fun time for sure.

6. Ok but the conflict... This is gonna get pretty spoiler-y. The time hotel is a hotel and you can just pay for a room and go in it, so Villengard could have just paid for a room to get in. There was no reason to randomly "upgrade" the briefcase to different people, killing a bunch of them. No reason. They could have just had one guy go into the hotel, drop off the briefcase in the past, picked it up in the future, and turned into a star at the end. But even with what they decided to do, all the people who died ended up turning into the star at the end with Joy, so they're all good. Not dead, just changed. And based on the whole "the flesh will rise" or whatever thing, Joy just floated off into space because that's how Villengard DESIGNED the whole thing in the first place! So really, the doctor and Joy just got in the way because the stupid manager went in the 2024 room for literally no reason. That's a bit silly

Seeing a lot of "The Substance" hype and I wanna get my thoughts down based on the little I've seen.

Looks like Demi signs up for some spooky service that allows her to become a younger version of herself or something temporarily. Seems great at first, but she's losing time and not conscious of the alternate version's experiences as she should be. It's taking over her life.

And it's gonna climb out of her spine in the third act, killing demi and succeeding in its goal.

I just really take pride in guessing stuff with as little info as possible, so I need to note this for possible later obnoxious bragging.

America so crazy. The fact that any sort of PAC or anything like it is legal is just absolutely insane to me. Bar direct campaign donations from registered voters, no one should be able to contribute to political campaigns. Individuals should have a cap of a few grand, and companies shouldn't be involved at all.

I want to believe Canada's far better, because I know we have decent regulations that we enforce for the most part. Unfortunately, that hasn't really stopped rich or unsavoury people from running most things, but I think it's generally allowed for qualified people to run things and I think that's a good start.
