If you can't laugh at yourself, there's your first problem. This is me back in 2007. The last time I was in Thailand. My family and I were traveling from the village to the city. My grandparents and family members in the village have no running water, one road (motorcycle vid), some basic electricity, and lots of love. They humble me when I come home and pick up the little amount of the language I can. Recently, I was noticing that this particular video had over a thousand views. I was so tired!!! My dad is so good at capturing moments it's hard to not laugh at myself. Joke was on him anyway, I was secretly 2 months pregnant with my beautiful daughter at the time lol.

This was a protest I was part of 3 years ago. An ex and I decided to up and move to Berkeley for the season. Instantly, my love for the Bay Area grew. While commuting to People's Park one day, we came across a sign that said "Cats Against Clay protest (make $20)". Of course, we had to check it out. We got there bright an early in the morning that beautiful summer day. They hadn't even made it to the location at the time. When they arrived in their colorful kitty costumes my eyes lit up! I went straight up to a big white cat and asked exactly what the cause was. He told me how most of the popular cat litter used today have clay in them. The clay is not only toxic for the ecosystem but it is actually harmful for the cats themselves! Being that my legal name truly starts with the word "cat" that's a cause that I couldn't pass! I asked for a sign all day and almost came up empty. But the hot cat woman finally gave me the opportunity to talk to her. When I did I grabbed the sign that said my name big and proud and continued shouting at the top of my lungs! While walking I thought about my own 2 cats Ziggy & Zorro. How they really don't have a voice, but they communicate with me all the time. I thought about the people that started this protest and how much they love their cats too. To the extent that they would pay a hefty group of homeless people and students to help. Then I thought about how they were helping a few causes that day. Not only were they giving felines a voice, they were also giving many people (young, seasoned, families) a meal, an investment, hope to stay alive another day... I was a part of a powerful peaceful event. This will forever be a favorite memory of my adventures in life. One day I hope to be able to give back to them. To show them the gratitude they deserve for their many compensations. That day I went to bed with a full stomach for the first time in months. That day, many people were made aware of the litter they use for their furry children. Sometimes I still hear a conversation about clay in cat litter and the corners of my lips ascend.
I just can't sit & watch the hate in the world continue to grow. Hate for self. Hate for others. Hate for objects! Change must start now. Must start with SELF.

Today's inspiration is the late great Jimmy Hendrix (Jimi, Jimmi, however you wanna spell it lol), I stumbled upon this photo in black and white. Recently joining Facebook, all I have are my likes lol. "hint hint look me up by email lol" This photo is a pretty proud moment for me, can't lie. I just finally feel at peace enough to take my time on the tablet. Gives me some hope that I might have a chance in my editing to do something positive with it. In a world that I absolutely REFUSE to conform myself to, any hope brings smiles to my face. Seeing my first follower and the likes and feedbacks I saw also truly warmed my heart! Thank you!
Yoko Ono and the late great John Lennon performing O Sisters O Sisters. This is a compelling song not only because I myself am woman. But for the reason that today just so happens to be International Women’s Day! Plus lately I've been pretty disappointed in the actions, mindsets, and emotions that we as women have allowed into our lives. A vague enough goal to empower all my fellow woman has rushed to my heart quicker than blood. Thanks Yoko!
