She has played by the rules.
Chaotic lawful.
I live in Seattle. I used to live in Berkeley. My favorite Indian place is in Berkeley. This is also my mother’s favorite Indian place.
So now, when I travel to the Bay Area, I go to our mutual favorite Indian place, buy her favorite curry, and freeze it solid before I fly home. I carry it in my backpack, and aim for femme-presenting TSA agents because I know my bag will get searched, and they’re more receptive to the beleaguered eldest daughter trying to be Dutiful (tm) routine.
But as the curry is a solid when I pass through the checkpoint, they have thus far always allowed it on the plane.
I have special dietary needs that cannot be catered for past security. And if I don't eat or drink every four hours, my body starts to shut down. Talking seizure-like migraines, fainting, and abnormal heart rhythms. I've been advised to take broth with me the next time I fly by a doctor to ensure I have access to a good source of nutrition and electrolytes to avoid feeling like I'm having a heart attack at 30,000 feet.
Me: "And how am I supposed to do that? Keep it in tiny travel bottles?"
Dr who also has the same condition as me: "You could, or you could freeze it. It's technically solid."
And it apparently works for her so... guess we'll find out?
Under US law if you can take as much “medically necessary” liquid - including food and drink - through the TSA as you need. I’ve taken full meals on ice, multiple protein shakes, liter bottles of water, the works. You just need to let them know before your bag goes through the X-ray. If it’s a liquid they’ll hand-test it for explosives.
“TSA allows larger amounts of medically necessary liquids, gels, and aerosols in reasonable quantities for your trip, but you must declare them to TSA officers at the checkpoint for inspection.”
Generally they don’t give you shit once you tell them it’s a medical requirement. If they do ask for a supervisor. I’ve never had to go further than that. They’re not allowed to ask what medical condition you have and you do not need a doctor’s note. (I used to carry one just in case but I’ve never once needed it so now I don’t bother.)
i wish u clear skin, inner peace and happiness
