Thanks to their dedicated fans, these two have managed to get to the final round! Newgrounds VS OC, Henry VS Ron! Who would win this tournament and bragging rights?
If I did a season 2, and that’s a big if, should I let you guys submit characters created by problematic people in the Friday Night Funkin’ community? (Ie. Bob & Bosip, Radi and Lofie, etc.)
Hello! This blog is for polling tumblr user's experiences, ie. Have You Done This Thing? Trying to spread the word. Tagging these folks to help promote if they want!
Hello one, hello all, and welcome to the Best Trope Ever Tournament, where we will find out once and for all what the best trope in all of fiction is! There have been tournaments for the best fanfic or best romance trope, but this tournament is open to any and all tropes used in the creation of stories. (So, There Is Only One Bed is a valid submission, but so is The Butler Did It or Gray vs. Gray Morality)
This tournament will be run using a bracket format, with each round of polls lasting for a week. No dates yet: I'll come up with those once I get a better idea of how long this tournament will be.
Here is the submission form! You can submit as many tropes as you want: I'm not sure yet how big I want this to be, but I will figure it out depending on how many submissions I get, so for now, submit away. I encourage adding a link to a TVTropes page, but if your trope doesn't have one, you can also just give us a quick description of it!
Hi, and welcome to the Trope Showdown! With this tournament, we seek to find what the absolute best fiction trope of all time is. You can su
Rules:
TVTropes is a site for tropes found in all media, including medium-specific tropes, but for this tournament we're going to ask that you stick to tropes that can be found in any story regardless of the medium it's told in. So no video-game-specific, musical-specific, movie-specific, or any other medium-specific tropes. (For example, the I Want Song is not a valid submission because it is only found in musical media)
Genre-specific tropes, however, are fine and okay.
I probably don't have to say this, but no offensive or problematic tropes. This means no tropes that stereotype a particular group or spread harmful ideas about a certain group.
Tropes can be as obscure as you want, but remember that the more popular a trope is, the more likely it is to get votes.
Regarding sex tropes: While I don't want this tournament getting too NSFW, I also recognize that sex often has a narrative purpose and plays a unique role in the story. Thus, my general rule on that front is going to be: no tropes about specific sexual acts or parts of the sex act, but tropes about sex in general are okay. (Coitus Interruptus? Okay. BDSM sex? Nope.)
Propaganda is highly encouraged and makes the tournament far more interesting for everyone involved.
Thanks for all of the recent feedback around Community Labels being incorrectly applied to content. In particular, we appreciate the input we’ve received from the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the frustrations from folks who felt that their content was unfairly labeled. When we realized this was happening, we immediately investigated and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.
The LGBTQIA+ community makes up about a quarter of the Tumblr community. It is important for us to support all Tumblr users, especially those whose safe spaces are under threat in certain parts of the world.
As you know, alongside of the rollout of Community Labels we also expanded the types of content allowed on Tumblr as a way to welcome more creativity, art, and self-expression. Our goals remain the same today. Human error happens and we apologize to anyone who has been impacted by these mistakes.
We are working to better understand what happened and will follow up with more information soon.
4,000 votes isn't a large enough sample size especially considering that queer spaces are close gknit resulting in a selection bias. To solve the potential selection bias, we simply need more people to see the poll and participate in it.
Quite simple, it needs to break containment.
I think around about a million or so votes would do the trick.
does the fandom constantly claim your fave is "just misunderstood and need of protection? has it turned your blorbo into just a silly soft boy? are you tired of everyone forgetting they're actually very capable?
well, look no further. welcome to the war of the woobified, where characters reclaim their status as a badass
or whatever. anyways
welcome to the show! i'm your host, mod jelly, previously pollrunner of ungodly-amounts-of-godly-trauma. let me know if i should change the url i don't mind
rules:
gonna be loose with the definition of woobified here. it's up to you but you do have to justify it. if you don't tell me why or how theyve been woobified i'm probably not gonna put them in unless i need to fill up space
submit as many characters as you want. probably will not do a prelims unless necessary
uhh no problematic media or whatever
okay thats probably it ?? have fun be nice :)
characters can be submitted through asks, submissions, google form, or even uquiz
tagged some of my favorite poll blogs under the cut for exposure :)
This is a winner-stays-on tournament, so don't expect any brackets. Every week (or whenever the mod remembers), a new contender will be put up against the current champion (which will be listed in the blog's description). If it wins, it becomes the new champion! If not, then the old champion remains until something beats it. There is no set end date for the tournament, and it is intended to continue indefinitely.
Submissions can be sent in here. There is space to add propaganda and media if you wish to. There are no restrictions on what can be submitted. The next contender will be whatever has the most submissions at the time the new poll is being made, though there will be a noted preference towards non-repeat contenders.
I just realized, the Link in Tears of the Kingdom is almost certainly the oldest Link we’ve ever gotten to play as. He’s the only one who’s unambiguously an adult.
Did your blorbo do something painfully, woefully, egregiously out of character? Submit it to this tournament and let the world know just how wronged they really were!
Looking for submissions!!! I want to be shocked and aghast at how much they would NOT say that. I mean, are you just going to let that bad writing slide?
