i think the reason so many people in other fandoms will say stuff like “___ is the new november 5th” is that they make the mistake of believing that november 5th was a single day of fandom chaos when in actuality november 5th was a years-long manic state of collectively experienced hysteria that included a vast web of intersecting episodes, scenes, translations of episodes, script drops, actors/writers/translators/etc, multiple fan weddings, anniversaries, cons clips, tweets, articles, a 12 year long history of theories and lore, a boom in fan content so large it broke AO3 records, and countless other things from days of the week to jewelry. nothing has ever or will ever come close to being november 5th.
