Besides the fact Toby Fox is a huge fan of Touhou, I believe this is very intentional because of the parallels between Gerson Boom and Yuyuko Saigyouji.
To keep it brief, and simple to understand for Deltarune fans, I'll simplify it.
Yuyuko is a ghost tied to an ancient tale written by a dead author.
Gerson is, in some sense, the ghost of a dead author.
Additionally, Gerson's theme contains a reference to the segment of The World Revolving containing Gaster's theme, also known as "the freedom theme."
Gaster is connected to trees in some shape or form. Even if you don't think he's the man behind the tree, he undeniably is related to them, because of the weird dialogue about the eggs and such.
Additionally, the graveyard which Gerson is buried in is in a forest.
Both relate to the fact Yuyuko was prophesied by an ancient poet to have her fate tied to a cherry tree, which is the main point of the climax of Perfect Cherry Blossom.

Why Bad Apple is going to be the Final Boss theme of Deltarune
WARNING: This post contains spoilers for Deltarune Chapter 7. Proceed with caution.
Well, everyone said Penumbra Phantasm would be in Deltarune. But it wasn't, and I was right!
However, it's not the only song that can be in Deltarune...
Look carefully.
Toby Fox said Homestuck music won't be in Deltarune. Not once did he say Touhou music won't be in Deltarune! The sneaky dog did this for a reason.
The song that will be in Deltarune is instead Bad Apple.
Think about it. Who is the main character of Deltarune again? Kris. And they like to do creepy things like pulling out a knife and smiling at the screen like that.
Notice anything?
Their smile looks similar to a certain iconic frame from Bad Apple.
That's right, Kris' smile looks similar to that of Flandre Scarlet from the famous Bad Apple PV.
In case you're unaware, Flandre is the final boss of Touhou EoSD.*
(technically Remilia counts, but like Flandre is the last boss you fight, so shh.)
This implies Kris will be the final boss of Deltarune, and their theme will be Bad Apple.
However, there's more important information to go over.
First off, have you listened to Flowey's theme lately?
This is undeniably an intentional reference, and Toby putting Bad Apple in the final boss theme of one game feels like extremely direct foreshadowing to me.
However, I'm still not done.
Read the translated lyrics of Bad Apple!!
"I can't even see the heart that's leaving me, didn't you know?"
One of Kris' main gimmicks is removing their heart. This is obvious foreshadowing for them being the final boss with Bad Apple.
"My heart just won't pay attention"

"If I change everything, I'll turn it all black"
True!
Anyway, I'm sorry for spoiling Deltarune, but it's just the truth and facts unfortunately.

Also, thank you for pinpointing that that image of Jockington has the pattern of image_depths! That has some concerning implications though. First we have Berdly being frozen, now we have Jockington being irradiated with goner maker background. I feel sorry for Kris' classmates

if sans and papyrus are both from deltarune, but sans bleeds and papyrus doesn't, does that mean that sans' blood has to be ketchup?
Possibly. We cannot know if monsters in Deltarune can bleed at all. That unused Susie sprite is odd, and she says "everybody bleeds," but the rabbit kid says "Does it hurt to be made of blood?" and the only character we have seen bleed is human so far.
With all that in mind, I believe that either Sans is just a very strange case (which is not uncommon for him) or his blood is ketchup.
Interesting that Noelle used to be shorter than Kris. They're far shorter than her nowadays, so that means they just finished growing early or something.
how is margin dreams' development going? don't need any major news update or release window, i think it'd be more fun to keep that a surprise, but is it all going well? like, smoothly progressing, or is it more of a slow burn?
