DEADLIEST CATCH: 7 Things We Hope to See (or Not) in 2015!

Last season on Discovery Channel’s hit series, DEADLIEST CATCH, there were a lot of storylines to follow. Which do we hope continue—and which do we hope they leave out at sea in 2015?
Jake Harris Battle His Demons and Win: Older Harris brother Josh took the Cornelia Marie out fishing last season as captain-in-training for the first time, but younger brother Jake stayed home, still fighting his personal battles. There was not really a lot of detail about the addiction issues we know Jake is facing from the previous season, but we would like to learn more about where he is this season—and sincerely hope that he is fighting the good fight and making progress in the right direction.
Elliott become UNobsessed with women: We are so tired of Captain Elliott of the Saga and his ongoing obsession with the fair gender. Does he have it in him to be a good crab boat captain? We don’t know, and if he doesn’t start worrying about his boat more than the ladies, no one will ever know. In 2014, he brought a new girlfriend aboard the boat as a cook. Will that keep him happy long-term, or is it just a quick fix to keep him a little more focused? We’ll see in 2015.
Jake Anderson take the next step. We know Jake wants to be a captain. What he seems unable to figure out is just how to take the next step. He gave the captain’s chair a try in 2013, and didn’t exactly make a splash on the Kiska Sea. In 2014, he seemed to be more reflective, less of the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed Jake we had seen in the past. Will this be the year he makes another move toward being the man in charge?
Another Tinkerbell. Last season on the Cape Caution, Captain Wild Bill spent much of the season dealing with a really bad hire, greenhorn Kelly “Tinkerbell” Collins. This season, we hope not to have to be inundated with more weekly drama on how awful the greenhorn is doing; fix him or cut him loose.
Mandy Hansen. Speaking of greenhorns, we really would rather not revisit Mandy on the Northwestern this season. She did a better job than some, but, let’s face it: She never really was treated like a greenhorn. She worked hard, but she was also treated like what she was: the captain’s daughter. We’d just as soon not see that storyline repeated again this season.
More drama than fishing. We admit, the drama is part of it. But, it seems that somewhere in the last 10 seasons, the drama has overtaken the fishing. We like the fishing too, Discovery; give us more crab fishing in 2015.
Oh, and one more thing to add to the “We Hope to See” list: Elliott turn his cap straight. We know this is not likely to happen, but until he does this one thing, we will never be able to take him seriously as a captain.
