He is best known for his roles in the films Billy Elliot, King Kong, Hallam Foe, Jumper, Defiance, The Eagle and The Adventures of Tintin. He calls himself "the Eminem of Northeast England". Met his former girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, while they filming Green Day's music video for "Wake Me Up When September Ends", where they played an actual couple.
