A LESBIAN is forcibly removed from a ladiesâ toilet by police who donât believe sheâs a woman in jaw-dropping footage.
So in addition to the obvious transphobia here, what we have is an example of gender-policing in toilets that a) harms cis women too, and b) sees male police enter the female toilets. Good going, cis people.

Heath Ledgerâs response to homophobic reactions to âBrokeback Mountainâ (x)
Knowing that trans women of color started the movement in the united states and were literally immediately erased and excluded from what they started is the most deeply jading knowledge.
It is the original sin of the so-called queer community and it damns it from the cradle.

The 1st time and the 101st time you come out
1st time: I need to tell you something.. And no one else knows, like..it's really personal and private.. But I think I like girls.. You know..like girls usually like boys..
101st time: Hello, my name is gay.
This photo of a young transgender girl is going viral in protest of anti-trans bathroom laws all over the country. But itâs actually a problematic message:
If we want to challenge the rigid way society views and classifies people by gender presentation, the thinking goes, we should seek to elevate trans people whose appearance reads neither as stereotypically male nor female.Â
While the meme is well-intentioned, it subtly reinforces the same prejudice it seeks to challenge.
For one thing, gender nonconformity isnât always as neatly presentable as Maisonâs photo suggests. By making Maison a poster child for the gender bathroom issue, the photo implies that society should be uncomfortable with people in bathrooms who donât read as men or women. But transgender individuals who donât âpassâ are just as deserving of protection and media attention.
Of course this girl should be able to use the bathroom that matches the gender she identifies with. But scare tactics and enforcing unfair rules about âpassingâ arenât the way to get there. (via Mic)
