“It’s…complicated,” Hope admitted.  “But yes - it absorbs monsters, and there’s no way out unless it lets them out.” The question made her chuckle softly.  “Monsters is kind of a catch-all. They’re things the world’s forgotten. Things that only exist in stories. Genies, fairies, unicorns, dragons, banshees, you name it - and trust me, fairies aren’t nearly as cute as they are in stories.” She focused on the dancing, not wanting to let herself think much about it.  “My sister - twin sister, as a matter of fact. Remind me to introduce you if we see her around.”
Belle raised her brow and nodded slowly “ Ok well there’s alot more that I need to learn but...I need to kinda soak this in overnight,” she said. “ Ohhh a twinn. That’s fun. I thought it was just you-unless...I’ve been tricked all this time and you two have been taking turns with me,” she said. Then took her hand and spun her around “ Orrr you are your sister Alex,” she smirked while joking with her.
“That’s the beauty of magic,” Freya agreed.  “Even after a thousand years, there are still things I learn all the time that take me by surprise.” She smiled as Belle described her shopping trip, knowing exactly what that feeling was.  “Your magic is strong, Belle. It was probably the strongest artifact in the place, and so it found its way into your hands. I’m sure it won’t be the last time that happens.” Freya was quiet for a moment.  “What would you like for Christmas, though? Would you like to come shopping with me one day? I wasn’t sure what you might want, so I thought that’d be nice.”
Belle raised her brow and slowly nodded her head “ Okay another thing added to, you learn something new everyday. Your way older than I thought you were,” she said. It was a lot to take in for Belle. Now realizing that the person she was living with was over a thousand years old. “ Ya know...someday you’ll have to tell me that story of exactly how you became a thousand years old. I didn’t realize you could do that,” she shook her head. She then listened to her words and thought about all that had happen since she’s been a witch. How she caught everything on fire when she was angry or scared, keeping her powers from the people she loved and cared about, how she was led here, how she could see flashes of things happening to people, and just weird feelings about certain things that just didn’t add up. She was doing her best in trying to control them all without any help.
She sighed and nodded “ Yeah probably,” she said. Thinking about how badly she wanted control. She looked back at her “Uh...I mean I never really thought about it. I know this may sound sappy but...all I ever wanted was to find my family and be happy. But that’s going to take awhile so...yes shopping with you sounds great,” she smiled and nodded.
Kai holds his hands, “Whoa whoa there, lets not say anything crazy.” While Kai knew very well that the gifts left for his siblings under the tree were certainly from his parents and the rare few he got were from Jo, he did know that historically there was some form of Santa. He smirks at the compliment, “I do look like 007 right?” He asks with a raise of his brow before looking back at the party, “I enjoy crowds, its better than the alternative.” He admits before looking back at the girl, “The holidays are a confusing time for me.” He adds sticking his hands within his pockets. “Have to leave some mystery don’t I?” It was enough that he was walking around in his underwear he couldn’t give up everything. “I’m sorry, you said Bennett? As in any relation to Bonnie Bennett?” He had to assume that this girl was much too old to be Bonnie’s daughter given the last time he saw her she certainly wasn’t pregnant. “My mental health? I can tell you that me wearing pants isn’t a reflection on that. More so a side effect to the loss of magic.”
“ I mean of course I will never crush my future children dreams and tell them Santa isn’t real. But still you learn later in life that Santa...was never really there,” Belle shrugged. She laughed and nodded “ Yes, yes you do. A handsome much younger one at that. But yeah I’m the total opposite. I enjoy small groups better than the big ones.,” she said. She then raised her brow “ What’s so confusing about it exactly? It’s Christmas,” she shrugged. She chuckled at him wanting to leave a mystery and nodded “ Alright mystery Kai,” she said.Â
Belle raised her brow once he mentioned Bonnie Bennett “ Uh... yeah. She’s actually my cousin. You know her?” she asked. She blinked more than usual “ Oh! Your...your a witch?” she asked him. She was kinda siked to meet someone who was just like her in a way. Besides Hope and Freya.
Nellie was stuffing her face full of food for what felt like the first time in forever, maybe because it was. She was grabbing multiple fries at a time in one hand, while taking bites from her burger in the other and still managing to lean over the table to take sips from her drink. It was the first time she had been able to buy herself a meal with her own money since arriving in this town recently and she was enjoying every minute of it. “Oh, hey! Can I get another napkin?” She called out to the person passing by her table, assuming it was her waiter because she was far too busy chowing down to check for sure.
Belle chuckled abit when she asked “ Only if you let me sit with you while I attempt to scarf down as much food as you,” she said. Before she could even speak Belle sat across from her anyway, handing over half of her napkins. “ Here. You can have some of mine,” she smiled.
“It is perfect,” Freya agreed with a smile.  “I love it, thank you so much.” Freya snuck a quick hug before Belle sat down again.  “They are, yes - used mostly in binding rituals, although there’s a few other spells you could focus through one if you wanted.  “Once upon a time they were actually pretty rare, even. So I really appreciate getting one as a gift.”
Belle smiled “ Your very welcome,” she said before hugging her back, feeling that safeness and warmth from her. Then pulled away to sit back down “Hmm...pretty interesting. I learn something new everyday,” she shook her head in amazement.  “ Ya know I was going to the antique store because I admire old things. I was just going to grab a few things for the room, to set on the bedside table or something. But it was like...that necklace was calling me and now I know why. It was the only necklace that was different from the others,” she nodded.
“You’re welcome,” Hope smiled.  “To be free from her service. And free from…” she hesitated to even speak its name.  “From this sort of prison for monsters. And it got what it wanted in the end, because that was the only way Alex and I could get home.” Despite everything on her mind she couldn’t help but laugh as Belle started to dance, following her lead. Hips swaying, arms raised, she tried to focus on the music and not what was in her head for just a little while.
Belle blinked more than usual “ I’m sorry what? Theres a prison out there for monsters! Well wh-what kind of monsters? Genie’s aren’t monsters, theyre like fairies and unicorns and all that cute stuff,” she said. Belle knew exactly what kind of monsters, she just didnt want to believe that theres a place for people like them. “ And who’s this Alex? Your sister? orr brother?” she asked. She continued to dance with her.
“Everyone wants to act like they’re too cool to enjoy a little winter fun but they’re all excited about the nonsense of Santa.” Kai remarks shaking his head to let some of the snow that landed in his hair to fall. “I’ve come into some pants since we last met, as you can see.” He held up a leg to show off the dark pants of his suit. “People who’ve seen me without pants are usually allowed to call me Kai.”
Belle tilted her head abit “ That’s crazy. Santa’s not even real,” she shrugged. Then came down the stairs to be in the snow aswell. She chuckled and nodded her head “ Oh yeah I see. You look dashing with pants on by the way. You came out here just to get a taste of snow or was it too crowded in there for ya? ,” she asked. “ Ohhh finally the man without pants reveals his name. Well it’s nice to meet you Kai, I’m Belle Bennett. I know last time we didnt really properly introduce ourselves. I was just more concerned with...your mental health. I’ve never seen a guy walk causally around town with no pants before,” she nodded.
She had to admit, she was somewhat sad to be a vampire again - having missed the sound of her heartbeat. But, she was alive, and she wasn’t going to complain about being alive. “The wine tastes so good,” she hummed, taking a sip from it, “I need to ask the brand, I may stock up on it”
“ Really? Maybe I should try that next,” Belle said as she thought about it. “I heard they’ve got all kinds of liquor here and it sounds like paradise,” she smiled. Then took a sip of her martini.
Kai stood outside enjoying the late evening flurry that started, the snow wasn’t something he was new to but he did miss it. Stuck in an endless loop, there wasn’t a lot of change in weather. Opening his mouth to try and catch some of the flakes coming down he could hear someone approaching. “What? You never seen a guy enjoy a little Christmas themed weather? Don’t judge.”
Belle had to come outside to get some air. She had a few drinks and was getting really hot. She brought her shawl out aswell just in case though. Walking even further outside, seeing a guy catch snowflakes with his tongue. She couldn’t help but to laugh abit when she seen who it was. “ Oh don’t worry I’m not judging you at all. I’m pretty sure I’ve already done that the first time,” she nodded. “ It’s nice to see you again Captain Underpants,” she smiled as she crossed her arms.
“You’re welcome, Belle,” Freya promised.  “I’d like nothing more than to be that family for as long as you want or need it. And I’m hoping this is going to be the kind of Christmas that you remember for a very long time.” She regarded the stone for a moment, memories playing in her mind.  “Moonstones can bind someone’s werewolf side,” Freya explained.  “Or be used in the ritual to reverse that binding. Would you help put it on?” she turned her head, sweeping her hair back to allow Belle access.
Belle smiled and nodded slowly, appreciating her. “ Thank you, me too,” she said. She then raised her brow and tilted her head, thinking it was just a pretty rock of some kind. “ Oh yeah sure,” she said as she got up from her seat. Then grabbed the necklace to place it around her neck. SHe finished up and pulled it down abit as she adjusted it on her neck. Came back around and smiled at it for a moment “ Perfect,” she said as she sat back down. “ So...moonstones are a magical thing?”
Hope shook her head, smiling.  “It’ll be fine, don’t worry about it. It’s just a plant, and I’ll take the fall when she notices.” It wasn’t as if Rebekah could truly be mad at her, after all, so all the better to deflect it from Belle.  “Yeah,” she agreed.  “Turns out she was twisting the wishes to try and get what she wanted out of it. And that’s a good way of putting it, when I got back it was only a few hours later.” There was a hesitation as Hope tried to strike a balance between honesty and not worrying Belle.  “I’m not sure, honestly. Those other worlds were…we went through hell. And it’s all still in my head. But I’m here, and it’s Christmas, and I’m doing my best to be glad for everything I’ve gained, you know?”
Belle chuckled abit “ Thanks again then,” she nodded. Then she sat and listened to Hope as she spoke more about thee genie and everything. She then raised her brow “ Well... what did she want exactly?” she asked abit curious. She nodded, feeling bad that Hope had to go through all that. If it was Belle, she probably would’ve went crazy and made it rain hellfire. But Hope seemed strong. She nodded “ Yes, and as you should. Just give yourself one day to be happy and let go of all that stress,” she said as she stood back up. Then she started dancing abit, moving her hips and raising up her arms. “ And dance away like this until the night is over,” she laughed.
“Oh no, my aunt Rebekah. She’s our host and party planner, and would definitely not want anything happening to her carefully arranged plants.” Which was why Hope had no intention of letting her find out. Her confused response prompted a grimace from Hope, who knew there was a lot to talk through.  “No, the year just happened in the past few hours,” she replied before realizing that didn’t clarify anything.  “It took several wishes to fix things. And I lived in the worlds I wished myself into for a long time - six months, in one of them. So it was about a year by the time I got back with my sister.”
Belle’s brows raised abit because she now realized how much of her family it was “Oh well then...let’s not upset her. Maybe I can find a spell to replace it something,” she nodded. She raised her eyebrow as she listened, she moved over to sit down on the steps. Belle blinked abit more than usual “ Wow...uh...that sounds unbelievable. The genie put you through alll that? Hm...sounds like time stood still here while yours went on. How are you feeling now?” she asked.
“That makes good sense,” Freya smiled, nodding. She could see Belle getting into places with either or both of those, and she couldn’t help but be a little bit proud. As she moved to order for them, Belle’s words stopped her and she turned back. Carefully accepting the small box, Freya shook her head.  “You didn’t have to get me anything, sweetheart. Having you in the house has been a pleasure, and I’m just glad you’re there.” She didn’t refuse the box, though, opening it with a soft gasp.  “That is so beautiful, Belle, thank you! I love it.”
Belle smiled and was actually proud that she even got this far with it. “ No, really it’s the least I could do. I’ve never really had a good Christmas before or better yet a good family. So thank you,” she said genuinely. Then smiled when she saw the look on her face “ Your very welcome. I got it from an antique shop surprisingly. It’s a moonstone and I found it pretty interesting. I’ve never heard of anything like it. So of course, I had to get it. I think it would look perfect around your neck,” she said with a smile.
“I wouldn’t do that, mostly because my aunt would kill you,” Hope laughed as well.  “It’s always a bit different when you’ve actually got the power, but I think that was pretty great all things considered.” She sighed, nodding.  “Long story short, turns out jinn’s are a real thing. One of them manipulated me into a wish that they twisted to take all the magic out of the world. Then earlier today she came back, and I spent a year fixing what I’d done.”
“Freya?” Belle asked because she only really knew about Freya being Hope’s aunt. She chuckled abit and nodded “ Well thank you again,” she smiled. Belle then gasped “ Woww...I was just kidding when I said a genie. But that’s really messed up. From what I read Genies are very sneaky so,” she shrugged. Belle wasn’t upset about it, she was just happy that Hope managed to get their powers back. She then raised her brow and shook her head “ Wait, wait, wait...a year? what? It’s only been a few month,” she said.
“That’s alright,” Hope shook her head.  “It’s just me, you don’t have to hide anything.” Leaning against the closest rail, she offered Belle a smile.  “Nicely done, by the way. Good control, and those flowers never saw it coming. Are you feeling a little better with magic back?”
Belle smiled “ Whew! Good...as long as you don’t tell anyone it was me,” she shook her head. She chuckled abit “ Thanks! As many times I’ve tried doing that without magic, I definitely should have gotten it on the first try. But taking it out is a different story,” she nodded. She walked abit closer towards her away from the plant “ I am feeling...complete now that magic is back. I get to continue my studies and control my powers more. Did you ever find out what happened in the first place?” she asked.
