I watched the live action version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" on Youtube and I was not ready for the utter lack of emotions from the CGI animals.

Vimm's Lair: Preserving the Classics

Preserving classic videogames from consoles past.

I'm just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they'd finished their collection of games for it back in April.

Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they've got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is... considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they've only gotten manuals for three games. So if you've got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual's still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!

Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm's Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.

I've been using Vimm's Lair for years, I have yet to see a single bad link or virus on the entire site. It's arguably the safest and most comprehensive archive of video games in existence. Preserved history

when i do commissions, to figure out the frame count and how the animation is gonna move based on the request i do a quick thumbnail animation that i send to get approved, no one ever sees these but its a very important part of the process, most of these are 4-5 frames as i try to keep gifs in that ballpark (for price reasons) unless the requests requires more

My two cents on city council of darkness:

Perhaps the narrative was not the strongest. I feel it could've been excellent if it were a longer campaign with more episodes to fully explore and develop the world and story.

YET, their joy still brings me joy! They all had SO MUCH FUN in the finale! I couldn't help but laugh along!

In my entirely irrelevant opinion, I think that the purpose of their creations is not to craft an absolutely perfect and unassailable masterpiece, it's to have fun with their friends and entertain people whilst sharing the delights of TTRPGs, and yet, Brennan and the entire team involved still craft profound, elaborate and intricate worlds and characters to be explored.

I cannot argue that this season didn't feel as though it lacked the clear direction and satisfying conclusion of the previous campaigns, but it's important to recognise that they do not owe us that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this campaign, but more so for the vicarious experience of the inter-player shenanigans, the occasional gripping character performance, and every single time one of them said something that absolutely broke another player, than the details of the story itself.

That said, I do have high hopes for the new season. that it will focus on the areas in which CCOD was weaker, such as cohesive narrative arc and critical, pivotal narrative stakes.
