Baskin-Robbins Australia Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Portal Shards and Webbing

Location: Baskin-Robbins Australia

To promote the second film in the Spider-Verse trilogy, Baskin-Robbins in Australia encouraged customers to enter the ‘flavorverse’ with a special ‘portal shard’ and ‘webbing’ upgrade to their ice cream order.

The ‘portal shards’ were made of cracked candy pieces and the ‘webbing’ was made with white chocolate. Either or both could be added to an order of the customer’s chosen ice cream in a themed cup, tub, chocolate-dipped cone, or on top of a brownie.

A special website made for the promotion- the now defunct www.entertheflavourverse.com.au - featured a game that involved the player stopping the villain Spot from stealing all the ice cream flavors.

Blaze Pizza Daredevil Pizza

Introduced: March 2026

Location: Blaze Pizza

In partnership with Disney+'s Marvel show, Daredevil: Born Again, pizza chain Blaze Pizza created a pie almost as red as the titular vigilante's costume.

The pizza, dubbed the Sweet Heat, came topped with spicy red sauce, mozzarella, double pepperoni, roasted red peppers, and a drizzle of Mike's Hot Honey.

Select Blaze locations across America also gave away an exclusive tie-in comic to the first 25 customers who purchased the pizza.

Baskin-Robbins X2: X-Men United Ice Cream

Location: Baskin-Robbins

To promote the second of Fox’s X-Men films, Baskin-Robbins created an x-travagant set of frozen treats.

These included X-Mint ice cream, a blue mint ice cream with oreo cookie chunks, and X-Treme Berry Sherbet, a blue raspberry flavor with white blueberry-flavored ice.

X-Treme Berry Sherbet also featured in Wolverine’s Berry Rampage Sundae where it was topped with whipped cream, strawberries, Wild Berry Nerds, and blue sour punch gummy straws placed in the shape of an ‘X’.

Another tie-in sundae was the Chocolate Vortex, made with chocolate chip and World Class Chocolate ice cream topped with brownie chunks, whipped cream, and hot fudge.

A tie-in commercial was created to promote Wolverine’s Berry Rampage, in which Baskin-Robbins reveals they asked the hero to design the treat himself. He somehow manages to spawn the treat into existence by slashing at a Baskin-Robbins cup with his claws a bunch of times. Perhaps that’s just a mutant power I’m not aware of. We can’t all have laser eyes, I guess.

Burger King Ice Age Icee Float

Drink

Type of Funny Food: Tie-In Product

Introduced: March 2002

Location: Burger King

To promote the Blue Sky animated film Ice Age, Burger King created an appropriately cool tie-in Blue Cherry Icee Float, a mix of blue cherry slush and vanilla ice cream.

A tie-in commercial featured a pair of boys drinking the beverage on a park bench, informing a passing group of inquisitive penguins of how cold it is and where to get it. The penguins waddle off excitedly to procure the treat, with one offering to drive.

Burger King would also revive the drink for the promotion of Ice Age 2, albeit in a regular red cherry version instead of a frosty blue, but it wouldn't reappear again for any of the other sequels.

Tiger Sugar Hello Kitty Crush

Location: Tiger Sugar

In collaboration with popular Japanese character Hello Kitty, American locations of bubble tea chain Tiger Sugar crafted a treat almost as cute as Hello Kitty herself!

The drink, Hello Kitty Crush, was a strawberry milk tea with tapioca pearls.

The collaboration also included multiple exclusive merchandise options, such as branded cups and drink holders.

Funny Food Announcement!!!!

In the interest of my own sanity, movie tie-in ICEEs are going to be relegated to their own masterpost. There are too many theaters that have overlapping flavors and some movies get like 6 different flavors. Having a single post for each film's ICEEs instead of sorting them by theater and having to mention the overlap is far more logical.

So if, in the future, I make a post about a specific film's tie-in items at a theater and you go 'wait I thought there were tie-in ICEEs' rest assured I am aware of the ICEEs, they are just a nightmare to catalogue.

Carl's Jr Mexico The Flash Burger

Introduced: May 2023

Location: Carl's Jr Mexico

To promote Ezra Miller's unfortunate Flash film, Carl's Jr. in Mexico released a special burger named after the fictional heroic speedster.

The Flash Burger came with lettuce, tomatoes, waffle fries, ketchup, cheese sauce, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing.

Collectable cups featuring the heroes from the film were also available.

Carl's Jr Mexico also held a Flash Burger Challenge, wherein participants sent in videos of them eating the Flash Burger as fast as they could. There did not appear to be a prize for the video with the shortest time.

I can't believe nobody's thought about submitting the Sonic IHOP collab

Fun fact: my friends and I are huge Sonic the Hedgehog fans (much like everyone else/ref) and we were hoping this collab would still be around by the time we hung out but alas they'd already switched it out for the IF menu.

All that said, I'm hesitant to consider these Funny Foods because these are just. Not themed. You can already order these items on the menu- Sonic's is just the Blueberry Pancakes, Shadow's is just the Double Chocolate Pancakes, etc. But I think if enough people consider that enough I could add it.

Grill’d Barbie Dreamburger and Barbie Beach Roll

Location: Grill’d

Australian “healthy burger” fast food chain Grill’d took part in the international Barbie craze, creating a pink Barbie Dreamburger.

This Dreamburger came with a beef patty, avocado, charred pineapple, and pink mayo all on a pair of pink panini buns.

The Dreamburger was also available as part of a “Dreamburger Bundle”, which came with the burger, a raspberry soda, fries, and pink mayo dipping sauce.

To further promote the partnership, Grill’d redecorated their Sydney Galeries shopping center location. Of course, it involved a lot of pink.

At this location only was the Barbie Beach Roll, a lobster roll with lettuce, avocado, lime, cucumber, and sprinkled nori all on a pink roll.
