How Then, Shall We Live? | A Mixtape
Everyone Is Gay’s February Mixtape, “How Then Shall We Live?” honors Black History Month.
“Black culture has a history of resisting through music. Whether it was songs sung by enslaved Blacks encoded with messages about freedom, the role of gospel during the civil rights movement, or the current movement’s attraction to singing and dancing as part of our liberation, music has always been at the forefront. Each piece was chosen as a way to connect us back to that history in order that we may move forward. When you listen to it in order, it’s a story of resistance; a guidebook for Black queer folks and our allies to ground us while simultaneously giving us the wings we need to fly onward.“ - Alaina Monts
