I do love how Quinn Hughes got traded midseason but the Wild have become protective of him. The announcers said that if a team wants to get the “pulse” of the wilds, they should go after quinn and gauge the reaction. He’s their special little haunted and hunted guy. He’s an incredible defenseman and everyone knows it so he constantly has a target on his back. He is only locked in when he’s moving on the ice, the rest of the time he’s tortured. Absolutely brilliant.
actually the tagline for the final season of 911: lone star should have been THE END IS NEAR and the first nine episodes all should have included emergencies that coincide with the first eight plagues of egypt (raining frogs, blood, boils, poisoned water, etc; these could all easily be worked into any episode and adjusted to suit the themes.)
this stirs up a local reverend at a small independent church, who sees these "plagues" as a sign of the coming apocalypse. this gains him a lot of media attention and his church begins to grow, their practices become more and more cult-like with every correct prediction.
(everything from episodes 1-9 of season five stays pretty much the same. carlos is still a ranger and solving gabriel's murder, grace is still gone, tk still wants to adopt jonah. marjan still gets married but the wedding happens a bit earlier in the season, which is more fun anyway.)
the final three episodes (this is still a twelve episode season) focus on one big emergency: a huge storm heading straight for austin, bringing with it a county-wide blackout (plague number nine, darkness) and major flash flooding. the entire city is in pandemonium with the reverend predicting that THIS IS THE END, and he and his church are going full-on jonestown with it.
while carlos and the rangers are trapped in a waco-but-if-it-happened-in-a-tornado stand-off with the reverend, the 126 works downtown to save austinites trapped under five feet of rushing colorado river. (THIS IS OUR BIG BUDGET MOMENT!)
episode twelve (titled "Revelations") ends with the final plague, the death of the first born son. RIP owen. a new captain rises to fill his shoes (judd), the storm clears, the day is saved, tk and carlos adopt jonah, and we end right where we should. but tim hates to do a cool fucking thing or whatever.
So unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of time to write whole fics for fun, at the moment. BUT i still want to try to write outside of classes and stuff so these tag games may end up just being little mini fics that help me keep my sanity. Point is: there’s this video that keeps popping up of this little kid not understanding the word “hydrangea” and all I can think of is Jonah and the boys so:
TK shifts the canvas bag on his shoulder as he approaches Carlos, who is holding onto Jonah’s hand. Jonah had been getting antsy while they were waiting to pay at the last booth and he had tugged an apologetic Carlos to another booth.
Now, the two are looking at bouquets of flowers. Jonah points to one and Carlos tells him the name, then Jonah repeats it. An attendant is standing behind the table, answering questions and gushing over the cutest kid in Austin.
“That one,” Jonah says, pointing as high as he can to a flower he can’t reach.
“You want to look at it?” Carlos asks. When Jonah nods, Carlos picks him up, settling him on his hip. Jonah reaches for the big blue flower, leaning forward at a precarious angle. Carlos’ has a hand on the boy’s waist so he doesn’t fall, but TK has to fight the urge to help. He gets ahold of the flower, a trophy in the hands of this three old.
“What’s the name?”
“Hydrangea,” Carlos supplies, finally catching TK’s eye with a smile.
“Hi, Drangea,” Jonah says with the sweetest and most oblivious smile. “I’m Jonah!”
Carlos laughs and the attendant looks at TK with her bottom lip stuck out a bit, like she’s trying not to cry tears of joy.
“No, buddy,” Carlos says, trying to control his laughs. “It’s called a hydrangea.”
“Hi, Drangea,” he says again, with more enthusiasm than before. “My name is Jonah!”
TK cannot handle it and drops his head against Carlos’ shoulders as the two of them collapse into a fit of laughter. Jonah laughs too, but has no idea why.
They return to the loft a little while later, Jonah dead asleep on TK’s shoulder. Carlos follows behind them with the canvas bag hanging off of his elbow and a vase full of hydrangeas.
all these clothing stores with their 'boyfriend shirts', 'boyfriend hoodies', 'boyfriend sweatpants', 'boyfriend shorts' - every two minutes someone's poor boyfriend is being divested of his clothes for resale and left cold and naked and confused somewhere
my tumblr mutuals will take characters from media that is not very good & construct such rich & intricate inner worlds for them in their posts that i will go wow that sounds so compelling let me go check this out….& then the canon character will be like. relatively boring with very little interiority. but that’s okay because sometimes the real character is the one my tumblr mutuals hallucinated along the way….
Orpheus and Eurydice but Eddie is Orpheus and is driving the ambulance through pouring rain and flashes of more lightning and the sound of Buck's ribs cracking and thunder and the defibrillator charging up and he can't turn around to look at his partner dead on a stretcher again, he wonders how he got back here and realises that in many ways he never left and he just has to keep his eyes ahead, he has to keep driving and he has to keep his partner alive this time, they have to leave the ambulance together this time. He can't look back.
