It’s no longer a headcanon, it’s a widely accepted interpretation of a character described as brown with a hair texture that’s NEVER found outside of the African diaspora.

There are hundreds of drawings of Hermione depicted as she was written. People are cosplaying her without being asked why they don’t look like Emma Watson.

This is so beautiful and idk what started it, if it was a text post, a racebent fancast or ppl just collectively coming out and saying “hey, I thought that when reading the books too”, but I am forever grateful.

That’s still a headcanon lmao.

And my hair texture (before getting tons of keratin treatments to tame it) is like how Hermione’s is described, and I’m white as hell.

Also note how Hermione’s hair is seen as bad and unruly unless it’s tamed. Wouldn’t that be, y’know, racist if she was canonically black?

(And I could’ve sworn JKR said that Hermione was based off herself when she was young…)
