So, surprising no one at this point, they’ve finally confirmed they’re putting a stop to explicit erotic content here on Tumblr. I like to respect rules, so from Dec 17 you will no longer see me upload illustrations here.

At this point there are 72,180 of you following me here on Tumblr, more than I have anywhere else combined by a pretty good margin, and I have to admit I’m a little bit nervous about how losing you will affect my future growth, but let’s hope it turns out alright.

This might be my last post here on Tumblr, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank every one of you who have liked and reblogged my work, and everyone who commented and left me private messages saying you enjoy what I do. It always means a lot to me and has helped keep me happy over the past four years. :)

Opening up about...

Why I disappeared. So, hey for anyone still hanging around. If you follow me and look for my updates then you may have seen I have been inactive in the NSFW scene for a good few months. If you are interested in reading a potentially long life update, feel free to click the read more button...

So to start, I was last active on my Patreon back in february. So what happened? First, I will say that I think my situation probably could have been handled better if I had been better equipped with the tools to deal with it. However, I am a clichéd introvert artist and so I simply curled up. I had written on patreon back in june that my longtime boyfriend and I had bought a house and that an update back in april was that my mental health was going better.

Recently there have been gears set into motion and sudden changes going in my life that I wasn’t prepared to have to face and those have also been playing with my outlook. I thought I had pulled myself together and was ready to resume my nsfw journey. I was not. Clearly.

The beginning of this fuzzybunny journey was a quest to be able to make a somewhat sustainable living through art, or to the least be able to pay minimal bills. But I realized as time went on, I wasn’t ready to make that jump. So after so many unstable full-time and part-time jobs, my partner decided it was time for him to support me in pursuing illustration. Which meant that he was giving me an opportunity to work from home.

Not every man or partner would just sit and support their girlfriend’s ambitions in such a way and for that I feel excessively fortunate.

So as I launched fuzzybunny, I slowly let got of my regular SFW illustrations and dedicated myself to exploring and bettering my skills through this account.

If any of you have ever worked from home or have had a long stretch of time looking for an employment, you know that its anything but a walk in the park.

In the long run it can become taxing on the morale if you don’t see any progress to show for your hard work. And for me this is what ended up happening.

For anyone that commissioned me, I felt blessed. These people approached me and trusted in my ability to create an idea that they had. For anyone that pledge to my Patreon, it was the same feeling. These people that are showing up are putting their support into what I do. I am grateful to anyone who left supportive comments and encouraging messages. 

Those positive things helped to keep me smiling, but it was still not enough to keep me afloat. 

I am not blaming anyone but myself. Honestly, this is what I think has kept pushing my head underwater. I’ve tried keeping an optimistic point of view despite not being an optimist. I have made progress over the years, my NSFW has affect my SFW and vice versa. Looking back, I can see my growth. 

I am constantly self-deprecating. The days off that I take to tend to my home sometimes end up being a few days in a row and at the end of those days I realize I have allowed guilt to creep up. I end up procrastinating and the longer I procrastinate the more I realize I am ashamed to come back to work and to create. It’s a strange feeling really.

Then that seems to trigger a strange cycle, I’ll feel guilt and feel as though I am letting my supporters down, feel as though I am making excuses, then be ashamed to update anyone. I’ve slowly been sinking into despair, sometimes neglecting my own care. Its been highs and lows and I can’t quite get a grasp on a steady beat.

I am not diagnosed with anything, I am not posting this for attention, I haven’t been to see anyone. I am sharing this because I know that it is part of mental health. Throughout all of this, I haven’t properly cared for myself and I know that doing so would probably be a good start.

I think that the time I’ve spent what I feel was essentially feeling sorry for myself, might have been a time off that I needed to evaluate what it is that I may have wanted from this. I believe I pressured myself by looking to NSFW artists that I look up to such as Calm, Sabudenego, VincentCCart, Evulchibi, hizzacked, Flesh-amare and more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.

I think to a point I may have overshot my expectations and the way I deal with everything and it just spiraled me into my mental shut down. The art I produce on every front reduced to a trickle and I find myself fighting to sketch even the most minute of things.

So...last thing there even if no one cares, I really apologize to my patrons that are active. I feel like I’ve let you down, I’ve for sure let myself down and I am hoping to cure myself of this hiatus.

On this same note, thank you to my patrons and ex-patrons on Patreon.

Scammer Targeting Tumblr Artists

The title says it all really. So if nothing else, please share and reblog this post to raise awareness for those that might be caught out - both artists and followers. For a TL:DR, please look at the bottom of the post

What is happening?

Right now, there is at least one person actively impersonating multiple artists across tumblr in an effort to scam their followers into paying for fake ‘cheap commissions’. The scammer will clone a tumblr, usually using a slight change to the url/account name to look like the real deal. They will then message people directly through Tumblr with messages along the lines of “Hey, i’m doing cheap commissions right now. DM me to get one”. Naturally, this is ends up just being a way to take their money without giving anything back in return.

Who does this affect?

Everyone. Simple as that. As long as the scammer in question works unopposed, they are free to spread their influence and continue to scam more people. Even if you haven’t been targeted yet, it does not mean you are safe or immune. Several artists have already fallen victim to this scammer, and I encourage any artists that have to reblog this post with the details of their affected account(s) and the ones the scammer has set up.

How can we stop this?

Tumblr, like many other social media platforms, seems to care very little about ‘minor’ occurences like this one, and despite reaching out directly to them over a week ago through multiple avenues of contact - they have refused to comment on the situation, provide a recommended response for users, or take action on behalf of those already affected. Despite this, there are still tools at our disposal that we can use to make this scam more difficult, and to increase its visibility to those within Tumblr staff that are required by policy to take action. Tumblr has the following to say on the topic of impersonation: Confusion or Impersonation. Don’t do things that would cause confusion between you or your blog and a person or company, like registering a deliberately confusing URL. Don’t impersonate anyone. While you’re free to ridicule, parody, or marvel at the alien beauty of Benedict Cumberbatch, you can’t pretend to actually be Benedict Cumberbatch. They then provide a link to this online form that you can fill out if you suspect someone’s identity is being confused. Unfortunately, this can only be filled out if you are the victim of impersonation. In other words, only the artists can fill this out legitimately. So, what about the followers and users of tumblr whom aren’t being impersonated? Our most valuable tool in this online platform is the platform itself. It enables us to spread our word near-virally across all the many sub-communities on Tumblr with remarkable efficiency for a user-driven system. We can take advantage of that effect to increase awareness of the situation. Even if you - the one reading this right now - aren’t an artist or don’t know an artist, the act of reblogging this post or sharing it directly with friends improves it’s ‘ranking’ in popularity increasing its chances to be seen by more people. We don’t need everyone on Tumblr to see the post for it to be effective, just like we don’t need the entirety of the human population of the world to be immune to a disease for that disease to be rendered ineffective or eradicated. If enough people are aware, the likelihood of pulling off a successful scam increases dramatically reducing efficiency to a point that it no longer becomes profitable to continue.

Why should I care?

It disheartens me to say this, but of the many artists I contacted directly over the past week to warn about this issue many of them refused to listen or dodged the responsibility with lines like;

“I’m not being impersonated, so it doesn’t affect me”

“I’m just one person. I can’t make an impact”

“I need to take care of my community. Other people can look after theirs”

This is honestly disappointing that so many artists or art-rebloggers care so little as to intentionally wave the responsibility of keeping their followers and fellow artists safe from this, that they cannot spare 10 seconds of their time to share an informative post. I’m not here to bash artists, but it is time that everyone takes responsibility for their own communities, and of those around them. Artists: You have a responsibility to ensure that your followers and fans aren’t being abused by someone who may impersonate you. If they succeed, your reputation will be damaged, and your followers will resent you. Your followers are also almost guaranteed to be following other artists meaning your efforts can spread beyond your own circle of influence, so don’t be naive when you think you have little effect. Followers: You have just as much responsibility to be aware of those that might try to scam you or your fellow followers. Don’t just sit in silence when you see something wrong: Ignoring the issue only makes it more resilient to our efforts to stop it. You are the vocal majority if you just use your voices to be heard!

TL:DR

A scammer is impersonating artists and scamming money from their followers under the guise of ‘cheap commissions’. If we ignore the issue, it will get worse. Every single person that reads this can afford to spend just 10 seconds to reblog and share this post. Those 10 seconds can save others from being scammed for hundreds of dollars. Reblog & Share

Me and my team have started a new project aimed at helping all artists and entertainers make a living from their crafts.“That’s nothing new!” you might say, but here’s the twist: We welcome EVERYBODY, and we promote EVERYBODY. We won’t hide adult content creators, we won’t pick and choose which nsfw content is allowed and which isn’t.

If it’s legal, it’s welcome! The website is being built from the ground up to accept everybody. From the payment processors we work with to the way the galleries are configured. We’ll use tags and themes so that people only browse what they personally want to see rather than just hide the “bad” creators under the rug and pretend they never existed while still taking their money.

Now here’s the thing: This website is a whole different kind of work than your average blog; for once I can’t make it alone, I’ve teamed up with a programmer who share my feelings about the abysmal situation of adult content creators, and we’re getting aid from lawyers and other front end/back end programmers, but even their free help is not enough to get this ball rolling. We started a fundraiser on indiegogo (Rewards tiers included):

This fundraiser will allow us to pay the initial expenses of setting up the business, developing the website, and paying the server costs for a few months. More funds will also allow us to negotiate better deals with the banks, which in return will mean more money in the pockets of the content creators that will use the website. I’ve already sank a few hundred dollars in this myself and we barely started, it won’t get cheaper as we go! We aim to have the website go online in spring 2018, but more money could make it happen faster. 

I’ve already been contacted by fans and other content creators that are interested in this project and who will contribute to the fundraiser, and I know that there are tons of adult content creator who wish to have a place like this for their work. So Please, donate if you can, and spread the words. If we get a thousand people to give 5$ we’ll be in business, literally!

-Why are you doing this all of a sudden?

With tumblr hiding their adult blogs, and patreon tightening their nsfw content rules, and payment processor and website hosts refusing to deal with adult content, adult entertainers and artists are running out of places to go, and there is no sign of improvement, so we want to make a difference!

-Other adult crowdfunder failed. Why would you succeed?

First, we don’t aim to be an adult crowdfunding site. The website will be open to everybody, the interface will be clean and practical, no porn ads or crude interface. Nobody want to see a bill on their credit card called “joe’s pornshack”. We are a crowdfunder like many other, but without the small discriminatory bullet points in the TOS aimed at nsfw contents.

-Why should we trust you to respect nsfw creators?

I am one myself! I’m an artist who do both casual and adult content, and always aimed to “raise the bar” of adult content by making it more than just fap material. If violence can be used to drive a story, so is sex. My comics and artworks are compromised and hurt by the rampant discrimination of adult content, so this website would be my own salvation as an artist.
