thinking about how both lancer artorias have so many parallels, in their card arts how lancers sky changes from blue to red while alters goes the opposite, how lancers displays a flag while alter is fighting with her lance, how even in the riyo art of all things has lancer on a battlefield while alter is in the sky, how theyre pretty much carbon copies in every sense, in that both are dreams of what could have been to protect their ideals but were never meant to exist, but the main difference is that even though both are heaven attribute, when lancer uses the spear she strikes from the sky, while alter strikes from the earth. one who ascended herself to godhood and one who descended the lance itself to humanity

bro but like…..the lance is what pins down the world. its not truly a lance but a tower, with the lance just being a useable version of it, the lance is what allows the world to exist because it makes it stable, it doesn’t let the other layers of the planet congeal together. it holds the surface layer (reality) and the reverse side of the world (dreams) apart. lancer and alter are the two extremes, lancer is the reality that holding the lance would cause artoria to lose her humanity, becoming a god and ultimately failing those ideals, that they were never meant to come to fruition because the tale of king arthur, a hero, was ultimately a tragedy. Alter on the other hand is the dream, she doesnt exist in any capacity and has no memories before having claimed the lance, but because the strength of her ideals were so strong they consumed the lance in turn, they sealed that light which held the world together but ultimately ceased to exist as a result, shes just a fleeting dream taking form because thats what humans do the best: they dream and achieve the impossible. the lance came to belongs to artoria and artoria alone because she watched it, the brilliant light she always saw from her tower was her ideals, the light at the end of the world that was the LANCE LISTEN TO ME
