(EDIT BECAUSE THIS IS GETTING A LOT OF NOTES; THIS IS MY PERSONAL RECAP WRITTEN LITERALLY 2 HOURS AFTER I FINISHED THE SACRIFICE + PRELUDE TO WAR. MANY THINGS ARE OMITTED FOR BREVITY. DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING ABOUT OR AFTER THE NEW WAR, I HAVENT PLAYED IT YET!!) (nobody's done this but i thought i'd clarify nonetheless)

so, just to make sure im following this right;

sentients are the remnants of an old orokin colonization effort which went rogue. they're now their own fully independent race of mosquito alien robot... Things.

warframes are humans who were- willingly or otherwise- experimented on by the orokin using the infestation so they could be weaponized against the rebelling sentients. except, shockingly, turning people into cyborg abominations against their will makes them more than a little hesitant to follow your orders, so the orokin needed an extra component to puppet their bodies make them function as intended. that extra component happened to be the weird eldritch psychic children from the zariman, an entirely unrelated colonization effort which ALSO went horribly wrong. im sensing a pattern here

this entire child soldier industrial complex was designed and spearheaded by a guy called ballas, who's just. the worst human being alive. an utter piece of shit. the type of guy who had his girlfriend executed for caring about traumatized children and used it as an excuse to feed war secrets to the sentients for his own personal gain. the type of guy who'd go on a ten minute rant about women being harpies before immediately telling his ex's child to kill her with a knife. the type of guy who forced one of his slaves to undergo an agonizing transformation and kill his own son because he felt like normal torture and murder simply wasn't good enough.

unrelatedly(?), natah was a sentient fighting in the war alongside her brother. somewhere along the way she was captured and... i believe brainwashed into babysitting the tenno after margulis' execution? that part is still a little unclear but i think that's what erra was getting at. she helped fight against her own family and eventually push the sentients out of the origin system and into the void.

soon after the end of the war, the orokin empire collapsed in on itself, and ballas went on a "summer vacation" on lua (which was also in the void). he stayed there until we accidentally let him and all of the sentients out during the second dream.

because ballas sucks so much forever, he looked at the replacement for his girlfriend (natah, then operating as the lotus) and figured it was close enough. so he undid the orokin sponsored brainwashing and brought her back onto the sentient's side of the war, which is also HIS side, and now caeru is a sad orphaned candlegirl who's been orphaned a third time in her life.

natah is helping her remaining family finish the war, but her mind and memories are also SUPER fucked up. y'know. on account of the years of brainwashing.

ballas and erra have settled on doing some sort of weird petplay thing in the middle of war preparation...?? sure. okay. good for them.

I've modified and upgraded this deck with lots of Prismari goodies and I'm reaching a tipping point. I have only 1 Extra Turn spell {Alchemist's Gambit} and if I use it wrong it kills me. I have no cards on the Game Changer list and I don't have any infinite combos.

The deck is super fun to play. But the casual pods I roll with of my friends are more on the casual side so I feel bad using a deck I feel is too strong for the table.

I don't want to rebuild the deck at a higher bracket because I don't normally find that kind of play enjoyable.

I am working on building some manner of commander deck for every color and color combo that matters ( i.e. not the 4colors because Atraxa and TymnaKraum aren't interesting to me). I'm posting this both to track my progress and invest in some minor accountability if I get lazy about it

Azorius - Gwaihir the Windlord (pauper EDH)

Dimir - Winter, Cursed Rider (I don't love this deck, may rip out the black and rebuild as Azorius)

Gruul - Karlach, Fury of Avernus / Raised by Giants (big lady does lethal commander bonk)

Lancer Lego Minis

There was a point where I was building these minis, NPCs, and terrain to run an in person Lancer game with, but I never really happened. Was going to use 4x4 Lego squares for the grid and tried restricting mt model sized to fit for that.

I've been ruminating on it since The Old Peace dropped and I got Rothe talking about Margulis and Ballas. I don't think there was ever any real love between them. Ballas being an Executor and Margulis "only" being an Archimedean meant that there were basically two entire social strata between them.

She was never a partner to Ballas, more like a pet in the same way that Omni Man talks to Mark about his mom in Invincible. You can't love someone you don't respect, and Orokin are quite famously bad at having respect for "lesser" beings. Ballas' love for Margulis was possessive, she "belonged" to him so he cared for her enough to reciprocate that relationship and nothing more.

Roathe says he saw genuine affection between them. Of course he did, he saw them in public where Margulis was little more than a piece of clever arm candy for Ballas. She would have had to act like their relationship was good and made her happy or she'd have found herself in the Jade Light chamber decades ago. And Roathe, who has plenty of poorly conceived notions on the nature of love and affection based on what he reveals about his own Relationship with Nitohk, is probably the most unreliable narrator we've had in the story thus far. He tells us things that are true enough, but they're filtered through his own perception and he makes no strides in leaving his own perspective.

He is a wealth of information, but his advice for speaking with Marie and Lyon goes double for him, take everything with a grain of salt.

Margulis speaks to a Cephalon in her early cameo in TOP about not trusting the Orokin. The only conversations we overhear between her and Ballas are them arguing. Ballas tossed her aside rather than jeopardize his own position or reputation with seemingly no remorse and then he has the audacity to blame her for choosing the Tenno over him, in feeling love and affection for anyone other than him.

Then you got Dungeon Meshi which is like:

If you or someone you know has enrolled in an ROTC college program where you will end up owing money if you choose to drop out and not enlist in the military, you CAN pay the money back the same as you would a loan. The rates will probably be better than the loan rates you would have gotten for normal student loans. You are not "locked in." You have a choice. You do not have to join the military.

also, if you are in ROTC and haven't yet gotten scholarships/completed field training/signed on the dotted line, you are free to leave without owing anything. You can drop your ROTC classes Right Now and there will be no consequences from the military (now depending on when you drop, you might end up with a withdrawal on your transcript, but that doesn't really have any consequences outside of the school)

You can drop out of JROTC at any time!! ROTC is NOT a military contract, you are NOT bound by anything except maybe a student loan if they've paid for some of your college. Paying off a loan leaves you with WAY better options than staying in the program.

I know multiple people who incurred permanent disabilities in ROTC that prevented them from going into the military, so they ended up having to pay the loan back anyway. They wish they had dropped out before they got hurt!
