I need to talk about this Splatoon animation and why its so good

Big Betrayal | Splatoon Animation

Big betrayal is one of my favorites splatfest song in the franchise so I wanted to animate it, I love deep cutThis animation took me a month

Buckle in because I am going all out on this one.

OK so this video is an animated segment from the Deep Cut song "Big betrayal from Splatoon 3. Something splatoon does really well is create character moments and narrative for it's NPCs (mainly the idols) through the music. Splatoon 3 does this the best with the Deep Cut tracks that they added over time. For example, in 'Suffer No Fools', Deep cut aond Off The Hook duke it out in a rap battle. Their personalities really shine here (especially Pearl continuing her verse even after she was supposed to pass her mic to the next fighter) Link to song here V

SO around the same time as this song was added, a Squid Sisters song titled 'Liquid Sunshine' dropped, featuring a familiar looking manta ray under the name "Ian BGM"

Additional artwork was released on social media alongside the song of the squid sisters and this 'mysterious' Ian BMG

So the story is that Big Man (the manta ray from Deep Cut) went under cover and did a colab with the legacy pop idol group, Probably around the same time that Shiver and Frye were rap battling Off The Hook. Shiver and Frye did NOT take this well, Soon releasing the title "BIG BETRAYAL"

They then proceed to rip Big Man a new one for the entirety of this BANGER. Anyway back to the animation

Shout outs to this creator, if they are making absolute perfection like this then they are WILDLY underrated. I'm just gonna share some of my favorite parts of the animation in no particular order. but first, IDK what version of the song they used, but it sounds so much fuller than the one released on Nintendo's youtube channel. I love it.

so we cut straight to the melody and already these facial expressions are INCREDIBLE. Shiver is so menacing I love her.

Additionally, they spinning into a tornado that catches big man is very reminiscent of how the eels are used in the climax of the campaign. very good attention to detail there.

Shiver uses Master Mega to devastating effect (also I love their cheering in the corner look at um goooooooo!) Also I love how violent this video is, but the good goofy kind. its got such a good style.

I LOVE the use of the glowy floating particles in the tentacle hair to show their anger rising! in the game, your hair glowing is a sign that you ultimate attack is ready and you are probably seconds away from doing VERY violent, so using it hold dramatic tension for a shot is a stroke of GENIUS! also I love Big Mans face here. all the faces are great. no notes.

These two can beat me senseless in an alley any day Also Framing the record scratching sound in the song as Big Man's scream in terror was so fun! Great use of creativity

I even love these cute little run cycles! I tried my best to get it to loop in Gif form, but honestly just go watch the video if you wanna see it more. God, God this video is so good. Just went I thought I was kinda burnt out on splatoon stuff too. Holy shit. fucking excellent. No further words, go watch that video and do all the stuff that supports the artist. holy shit. it’s a shame more vampire media doesn’t pull from vampire bat behavior because they’re such sweeties. they can only survive their incredibly specialized diet because bats will share blood with colony members that didn’t find a meal! there’s evidence that suggests the donors sometimes initiate this behavior themselves by approaching hungry bats! the colonies are mostly harems of females with a few males but they’ve been observed letting unrelated males in when it gets cold so they can all stay warm! cute little social critters!
