i finally got around to watching the Rebuild the Galaxy specials, and it's like. basically everything i'd have wanted out of a Lego Star Wars movie, it means everything to me that it's both so silly and so like. actually profound??? And the dark ReyRose is the absolute cherry on top i love them so much
I know the usual recommended watch order is Clone Wars, then Rebels, but my vote is always for the reverse.
Because here’s the thing: Ezra has not seen Clone Wars. Ezra was born after the Clone Wars ended, Ezra was functionally orphaned at age seven, Ezra knows goddamn shit all about history.
Mandalorian politics? Incomprehensible. Maul? A nice guy who just wants to help. Adults still caught up in the trauma of having fought the last war? Should get over themselves and realize they’re fighting a different war now.
Watching Rebels without having seen Clone Wars gives you the Authentic Ezra Bridger Experience of also not knowing who the fuck Roger is. And who doesn’t want immersion like that?
Imagine watching all of Rebels beforehand, meeting Maul - the funny old hermit with horns who fucking owns every Inquisitor singlehandedly, or Ahsoka, the snarky lady who's also a badass. Imagine meeting Rex and feeling like he and the other surviving clones have gone through a lot and wondering exactly what happened to break them as terribly as they are. Imagine thinking about all that and the terrible shit they've all been through.
AND THEN FINDING OUT THEY MADE SEVEN FULL SEASONS ABOUT EXACTLY THAT AND IT'S INFINITELY MORE TERRIBLE (/POS) THAN YOU COULD EVER HAVE IMAGINED AND THAT THE LOSS AND TERROR OF WAR IS REAL AND TANGIBLE AND YOU GET TO LIVE EVERY SECOND OF IT AND ARE POWERLESS TO STOP IT
i should sleep but i need to talk about the skywalker family and their chromosomes
it starts out a little silly but i promise i get deadass once i start talking about luke and how he was born.
now, it all starts with anakin.
anakin had no father, his mother birthed him like he was jesus (jesus intersex representation?? 😨 that’s another story) and she could only give him X chromosomes. that means either anakin didn’t have chromosomes, he had two X chromosomes, or he had just one X chromosome. considering his mother birthing him and his fatherlessness (loser), it’s most likely that he had a single X chromosome. therefore he was intersex.
now he probably still had cock and balls (derogatory), otherwise he couldn’t have had kids with padme. if the jedi order had a sex ed class (they probably did tbh), then anakin would probably know or realize that he only had one X chromosome, and therefore he realized he’s intersex.
as much as i love the idea of non-binary anakin- let’s be real guys. anakin would be those types of dudes who, when asked what their pronouns are, would answer with “nor/mal”. people would mention his beauty or his feminine demeanor and he’d be like “i’m not gay”. or something like that. i’m projecting my homophobic brother’s personality onto him. they’re very similar and i’m not particularly fond of either of them. at least, not anakin in the prequel movies.

anyway so onto luke.
it gets serious here.
since anakin only had one X chromosome, and padme had XX, then both of them contributed an X chromosome to their children. they literally couldn’t be able to make a biological male child. if they did end up having a male child, they would either have to be also intersex, or trans.
leia and luke were both born with XX chromosomes.
“but olly! in the movies, they said luke was a boy when he was born!” ah wonderful observation, my silly little padawan.
obviously star wars “humans” aren’t clearly “humans”, rather aliens as well. so likely their biology might differ from irl. but if we were to ignore that and consider all the possibilities, we could come up with a logical explanation.
obviously the technology in the star wars universe is very advanced, at least more advanced than the options we have available. i think the topic of gender and sexuality isn’t even a real thing in the universe. gender is a social construct, right? and clearly with the different aliens, races, and religions in the universe, the discussion of what “gender” is wouldn’t technically apply anywhere because gender isn’t real.
back to the technology part- i’d like to think the universe at that time would be able to find out a child’s “gender” or orientation by examining their brain when they are born. according to this study by Dr. Julie Bakker in how trans peoples brains correspond with the gender they identify as, regardless of how they were born, it can be understood that even from a young age, trans people think and process the same way cis people would within their respective identity/gender.
i think it would make the most sense that when luke and leia were born, they were given brain scans or something of the sort to determine what their gender/identity would be, regardless of how they were biologically born.
therefore we get luke’s “gender reveal” in the movies, even though he was likely born as a biological female.
basically trans luke is canon, y’all are just cowards.
so the whole skywalker family only have X chromosomes. until we get to ben solo. because of Han’s Y chromosome, ben would’ve been born as a cis male (derogatory).
that’s why he became evil. it’s bc his whole family is trans and he was kicked out for being cis.

When South Africa dismantled apartheid, it did not end with the expulsion of all white South Africans. They became part of the new South Africa, just without the criminal discriminatory oligarchic powers the apartheid goverment had. When Bolivia recognized its indigenous heritage and became a plurinational state, it did not mean that people of European descent were expelled in masse. It meant the recognition of the previously discriminated indigenous and mestizo people of Bolivia and the beginning of a path of integration and revalidation.
What I mean is that it's ridiculous to think that decolonization inherently means mass suffering and relocation, that's what colonization does. Decolonization is recognizing the crimes of colonization, but more importantly, material, political and social steps to give power and self-determination to the exploited native people who were victims of colonialism and imperialism.
In multicultural societies, you don't go like in that Peter Griffin meme with a skin tone chart and saying 'well, you go back to Europe, you go back to Africa, you stay here'. You build a new society on the paradigm of dignity for exploited people and equality under the law. People are acting like this is some sort of fantastic utopia instead of real initiatives that were done in living memory, with successes and failures, as all such initiatives have. One must ask why are some so insistent that multicultural societies can't thrive, especially when for most of history, societies were indeed like that. Consider why you think like that.

(NOT CLICKBAIT!!!!!)” and the footage is just rey and rose accosting luke in a Michaels Craft Store and asking him questions about rey that ‘only a father would know’ while luke (in a vitage wizard art tshirt, floral robe, crargo shorts and crocs) is like. clearly actively stealing art supplies and putting them in his bag as he answers each question with another question only for din to poke his head around the corner saying “hey grogu just ate at least $100 worth of slime supplies we gotta go to the hospital i think” and then luke throws a smoke bomb that he got off amazon and grabs grogu and dins hand and runs out and the michaels cashier says “godDAMNit not again” and then the video fades to black as the fire alarm goes off and the screen says “Conclusive Proof: Luke Skywalker Is My Dad”

I know there’s a high likelyhood of him being portrayed as some guy who gets corrupted by greed but come on. The guy’s been through hell. He deserves respect. Modern star wars AU hc, this covers a wide time period (sort of?) and still follows cultures and species from the star wars universe (I.e Hera is still a Twi'lek, Ahsoka is still a Togruta, Mandalore is a country instead of a diffrent planet, ect.)

- while I would love to include all clones, last time I tried that I fried my modern AU, so here's a more edited list with my faves
- Jango had Boba and Omega
- Rex and Cody are brothers, they're boba and omega's cousins
- the bad batch(quintuplets) + domino twins are brothers and are boba and omega's first cousin once removed (so Jango's aunt/uncle's kids)
- pretty much everyone in the fett family joins the military to some degree
-Bd-1 is Cal's small dog, C3P0 is a golden retriever (or possibly a service dog for Ani due to childhood trauma) and R2 is a cat (maybe a tuxedo), Chewwie is one of those big super fluffy dogs, Chopper is a ginger cat, and Jar Jar is Padme's overly excitable yippy dog (couldn't decide on a breed)
- Hera and Kanan eventually adopt a wolf dog they name Dume, Chopper hates sharing attention
- Kanan adopts Ezra
- Sabine is related to Bo-Katan and Satine (somehow, I know she's the same clan so extended family!)
- After meeting clan Wren (I am writing this as I watch Rebels) I have decided Ursa was Satine and Bo-Katan's adpoted first cousin once removed
- Hera is totally Airforce, like I feel like that's the closest to her role in rebels, her and Kanan met in highschool
- their song, which later became their first dance at their wedding, is "Ain't no mountain high enough"
- Zeb is another friend of theirs from highschool, he was a year or two younger
- Zeb is a security guard, Ezra is an animal conservationist (see him and Loth wolves), his parents had a radio show where they talked about endangered species
- Kanan is a firefighter (because irony) and Cal is an elementary school teacher who is in charge of his school's fencing club
- in this au Kanan's injury comes from a job, once he's blinded he joins Ezra in his work
- Cere is a highschool music teacher, Merin is a history teacher who also has an elective cultures course, and Greez is a freelance pilot who's business is definitely totally 100% legal(/s aka he takes some shady jobs)
- Cere and Greez are neighbors, Merin works at the same school as Cere, and she meets Cal through her
- Din obviously adopts Grogu at some point, and Luke volunteers at the temple's Sunday school which is where he meets them(???)
- I feel like Luke would own a martial arts school, Leia becomes a politician like her mum, Anakin would be a robotics engineer
- Satine is prime Minister of Mandalore, Bo- Katan is either military or lawyer (she strikes me as the lawyer type), Sabine was going to join the military but ended up pursuing an artistic career, Korki wants to go into politics like his aunt
- Mandalore works like the u.s where it's a bunch of small countries a trench coat, except they're more functional... mostly
- Obi wan is either a social worker (helping other kids like Anakin) or some kind of diplomat, he only became a diplomat cause he took a few classes to spend more time with a cute international student *cough* Satine *cough* and found he was good at diplomacy
- Plo Koon and Ahsoka are body guards/ security, Plo has his own company, Ahsoka started as being in charge of marketing (I consulted my mom for Ahsoka's job and she suggested marketing because she's so bubbly)

The reason we never saw this in ROTJ is bc he would’ve gotten a real whack tan line on Tatooine and then Endor was chilly and DS2 was too stressful to change. He 100% had this outfit stashed in his Jedi backpack for maximum dazzle but never got to use it due to unfortunate circumstances.
This is a really good point. I don’t think libraries have ever been more important to protect and support. As a very popular post out there somewhere once pointed out, can you imagine if libraries were proposed today? They’d be tossed away as “social garbage.”
So yeah, support them and actually USE your card too. Most library systems have apps for ebook borrowing so you don’t even have to go in.
I’m glad that this post got notes. A bunch of book loving nerds, all of us 😉
Also, check what weird, cool non-book stuff your library has. Not just DVDs either. My library has a damn 3D printer and a laser cutter machine that you can use.
