Eric’s shoulders slumped in relief. At Gale’s question, he shrugged. “Sam would have wanted to fight Ch– uh, the guy who did this. And he would’ve gotten himself killed.” He held up his arm, encased in the cast Dr. Baptiste had fitted him with. “I tried it.”
For a moment Gale stared at Eric, his face a mixture of perplexed sympathy. “You know the name of the man who killed your mother, and you’re still not telling anyone.”
ericfisk:
“I don’t know. ‘Cause I didn’t tell you the truth about what happened.”
Gale shook his head, smiling a little. “If we arrested people for lying or keeping secrets, every single person in the world would be incarcerated for something.”
“But you kept it from your brother, too? Why?”

“Yes, I’m a demon, if that’s what your saying.”
“Right. Okay.”
“But Emily... is... how-- how do you know that she’s still there?”
ericfisk:
“He wasn’t even supposed to know, he found out by accident. He hated me for it,” Eric rambled for a moment before cutting himself off and looking at Gale nervously. “Are you gonna arrest me?”
“No. Why would you think that?”

“Fucking hell, don’t compare me to them.”
“Sorry. But you’re the same in that aspect?”

“Didn’t I just say something about that?”
“Yeah, in the third person. How am I supposed to take that seriously?”

“…Who told you that?”
“Samson. I don’t know why, it was completely off the topic. I’m sorry if he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone.”

“Of course not. Just an observation.”

Hearing a series of knocks, Eric moved to the door with a sigh. He hoped it wasn’t Dr. Baptiste, because he definitely wasn’t wearing his sling. That thing was driving him crazy. He was one step away from figuring out how to get the cast off, too. It itched. Opening the door, he was a little surprised at who he saw. “Uh, Officer Dreyer? Everything okay?”
“Your mom was killed by a demon?”
