:D so, idk if this is too terribly weird, but I’ve already got a game (riddle school) that gives me those good good kin feels, I’m wondering if you know of any other simple, brightly colored, unsettling (horror’s ok, just not jump scares, I’m a coward lol) school games? it’s my favorite kind of feelings and I’d love more games to choose from!
hello!! i don’t think that’s weird at all, i used to love those games! unfortunately though that’s a pretty niche genre, so i only have one that checks all the boxes!
the wanderings of a high school boy is a semi-aimless short adventure following a quiet boy as you try to uncover the story. its relatively short, but interesting and reminds me of riddle school stylistically! its free, and on windows. heads up, it downloads as an .rar so youll need something to extract it! (CW themes of bullying, depression, implied suicide)
i did think of a few that might have similar vibes/narrative voices though!!
i havent played a riddle school game in a long time, but iirc at one point you get kidnapped by aliens? so this is playing off that! sol traveler is a short little concept game about waking up on a spaceship and finding your way home. its a quick walking-simulator-esque game but i thought it was fun! it’s on windows, and free!
the endless express has you trying to catch a train home... but where is it? colorful simplistic visuals and fun dialog with the characters in the game make me think it’s something you might like! its exploration-focused mostly, though theres some interaction too! this game is free and on windows, mac and linux!
additionally, if you haven’t already you might have a good time checking out the other things riddle school’s creator has done! i haven’t played any of these, but his sites full of his work, maybe you’ll find something you haven’t seen!!
