really don't care about the fight between greek and turkish nationalists over who invented which food, not even sure if one could %100 prove who did what due to how intertwined the region's history is and I don't gaf, but with that being said there truly is a layer of racism to how food shared between Turks and Greeks always gets labeled as "Greek" in White majority markets

not that Greeks are treated the most favorable always and they face bigotry especially within Europe, but there's no question as to who's seen as more "White" between Turkey and Greece and who faces Islamophobia. Is the labeling done because the public of the white majority world collectively happened to taste both "turkish vs greek versions" of dozens of foods and decided they liked one umami better, because the sellers of all these brands are nationalists invested in this debate? Or perhaps they simply knew that when a White person is passing by in the market, they have a more positive reaction to the word "Greek" compared to "Turkish" for reasons definitely not racially loaded at all and unrelated to White supremacy and Islamophobia
