i think avoidance is such a little-recognized ocd compulsion. all the time i talk to people with ocd who are like "i was always having intrusive thoughts about using kitchen knives and harming myself or others but i'm okay now because i just stopped using knives ever 👍 so i'm good now"
if you don't know why this doesn't work, the issue is that ocd never stops when you implement a compulsion. it evolves. today you've "solved" it by never using a knife again (and losing access to an important cooking tool, thus limiting an aspect of your life) but in a few months or a year it'll be that forks are dangerous too. and hey, isn't it risky to use the stove? avoidance will even begin to manifest in places you might not recognize.
the point is that OCD compulsions are never solutions, they're actually the problems. the intrusive thoughts SEEM like the problem and the compulsions FEEL like the solution. and that's how it getsya.
Palestinian father dies without burying son whose body Israel withheld for nearly a decade
Jerusalem resident Subhi Abu Sbeih died today without ever being allowed to bury his son, Misbah Abu Sbeih, who was killed by Israeli occupation forces after carrying out the 2016 Jerusalem operation, as reported by Sahat and other sources.
Nearly ten years later, Misbah's body remains withheld by Israel.
According to the report, Israel repeatedly targeted Abu Sbeih and his family over the past decade, arresting him and his sons multiple times.
Around a month ago, Israeli forces reportedly turned his home in the town of Al-Ram into a military post and detained him for hours despite his age and illness.
The report said Abu Sbeih was denied the chance to bid farewell to or bury his son before his death. Misbah's brother, Jaber Abu Sbeih, previously said that his brother's name continues to be remembered by Palestinians in Jerusalem and at events connected to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

FINALLY!!! We are at 99% of our goal in our campaign to evacuate the living hell of Gaza and rebuild our life in Ireland!
While people post Eid outfits, food, and family photos, my family in Gaza is trying to survive another day of bombs, hunger, fear, and unbearable heat.
There is NO safe place left in Gaza.
The bombardment continues every single day.
The explosions never stop.
And now summer has turned the tents they live in into literal ovens.
Imagine trying to sleep inside plastic and fabric under a burning sky while drones and airstrikes continue around you.
This is NOT a temporary hardship.
My family has lived through this nightmare for more than two years.
Two years of displacement.
Two years of terror.
Two years of watching their lives collapse piece by piece.
I am in Ireland, studying and trying to build a future, while every day I fear getting the phone call that my family did not survive the night.
We have already come such a long way thanks to the incredible support from friends of Gaza and Palestine around the world. Truly, we would never have made it this far without you.
And now we are VERY close to reaching our final goal.
Our only goal is to evacuate my entire family from Gaza to Egypt temporarily, and then reunite safely together in Ireland.
Please do NOT abandon Gaza and my family because the headlines got quieter.
Please don’t stop caring because the world moved on.
