It's been a long time coming, but the Garden Festival in Balamb Garden is finally a reality! This blog will be used to post updates, festival information, RSVPs, and more! Be sure to follow so you get the most up-to-date announcements!
This blog is purely for any garden festival-related RP information, prompts, memes, and more. If you have questions, the ask is always open!

Okay, so, Garden Festival. If I were to do this again as a 2+ week event of sorts… What would you want to see?
An event as before - simple synopsis of a celebration taking place somewhere in the Quad/Ballroom of Balamb Garden, with plenty of memes/interaction starters sprinkled throughout to be able to engage others
Something more complex - for instance, a more planned out plot like a murder mystery party where those who survive must find the culprit before time runs out
Or, a completely new idea, perhaps - everything starts out as planned, the party seeming like a success, before things start to go wrong and something/someone intervenes, changing what should have been a happy celebration into an event that is much more grim
As is now a Festival tradition, the week comes to a close with an impressive display of fireworks!
However, even once the final firework has faded from the night sky, the fun doesn’t have to stop there! The Festival may be ending, but the nightlife on the island is just beginning!
There are plenty of clubs nestled in corners of Balamb’s winding streets, and the celebration there will continue late into the night. The possibilities for continuing the fun certainly aren’t scarce, and no matter where you end up tonight, we hope you’ve enjoyed celebrating the summer with us!
The time has come once again to start the celebration with food, friends, games, and lots of fun, for a weekend Balamb will never forget! Balamb will be bustling with activity, and the road that leads to Garden is lined with plenty of stalls, rides, and games for your enjoyment!
Enjoy the live music, take a spin on the ferris wheel, dunk a few people and throw a couple pies, or just take a walk to absorb the scenery; there are plenty of options for anyone and everyone to celebrate with!
The fun is a guarantee, but that brings up the question: Where will you start first?
Open to anyone who would like to take part! From July 4th to July 14th!
Related posts are tagged with v; balamb summer festival, both on this blog and for any festival-related starters, opens, etc. so you can find partners to write with during the weekend.
Remember to man your posts if you were assigned a booth last week! But don’t worry about staying there all week; you will be able to take part in all the available activities, too!
Absolutely no pressure to interact with everyone! Take part in as many activities/memes as you like, with whomever you want!
There will be games, rides, food, live music, and more, only a short walk away from the beach!
This will be an open roleplay event that will begin Thursday, July 4th and continue through Sunday, July 14th!
Anyone can join in if you would like to; FFVIII muses are always encouraged, but not required! And, the more, the merrier; there is no limit on the number of people we have playing particular muses. In fact, we would like to get as many people as possible participating! All we ask is that you tag any festival-related starters, opens, or other posts with v; balamb summer festival so we can find each other and get those interactions going!
This time we have jobs available for people to take part in throughout the week! Find more details about all the positions that need to be filled right here.
RSVP information can be found on the submit page as well! It is completely optional to volunteer for a task; you can say no, we won’t be upset! Or, you don’t have to send in an RSVP and simply take part in the festivities as a guest once the event begins!
Follow this blog for event updates, prompts throughout the week, memes, and more!
The first version of the job list for the festival is out! Keep in mind, RSVPs will be open until the festival starts, so you still have plenty of time to get them in!
(Some of the open positions have been combined into one assignment in the list below, as they are similar enough that they can be interchangeable. If you are assigned to one of those tasks, you can pick one or the other to do, or both!)
Dunk Tank - @misplacedheroics and @hartofbalamb
Kissing Booth - @corditeheart (Xu) and @sharpxshootin
This year we’ve got a bit of a spin to our celebrations! Since this is an event that aims to benefit Trabia Garden’s restoration, we would like you to give us a hand with running it! Deciding to take part in the work is completely voluntary, and Selphie will love you forever if you want to help, but those who graciously offer a bit of their time will be assigned at random to a particular station to stick to for a little bit of the Festival. While we cannot guarantee getting any specific task if you request it, you can give us one station you absolutely do not want to have to deal with for that week, and you will not have to deal with it at all!
That being said, there are plenty of positions we need to fill. (And don’t worry; there will be plenty of Cadets and Balamb residents around to run these stations if you don’t want to stay there all day!) Read through the list, see what you like and don’t, and then send in an RSVP form when you’re ready!
The Stations
Games
Dunk Tank - Either being in the tank or directing those who are throwing at the target if someone else is in danger of taking a dip. If you’re assigned to this position, you will need to be in the hot seat at least once! Bring a swimsuit and a towel~
Kissing Booth - Be prepared for some smoochin’! Selphie will hunt you down if you’re not at this station when you’re supposed to be. Anyone with enough gil is welcome to approach - but you are allowed to cut them off if necessary.
Face Painting - Channel your inner artist! There’s really no limit to what people can request, so be prepared to sit with a paintbrush for a while, and make sure you don’t purposely mess up the painting just to speed through it.
Ring Toss - One of the easier tasks to do - hand out rings and prizes if someone manages to land one around a bottle. Simple!
Basketball - Dish out balls, watch the hoops, and hand out prizes. Try not to get hit!
Shooting Range - Not with real guns! Make sure players know what to do, that the targets work properly, and anyone who gets a high score gets rewarded appropriately!
Balloons & Darts - Be prepared to hear lots of pops, and watch out for stray darts! If you’re assigned here, try to keep the same number of balloons on the wall, and don’t let someone toss a dart at anything but the balloons!
Food
Hot Dog Eating Contest - We need judges to prepare the hot dogs, watch the contestants, and award the prizes once the event concludes! You may take part if you wish, but no cheating!
Apple Bobbing - Who doesn’t love bobbing for apples on a hot day? Make sure the buckets are stocked, filled properly, and no one drowns!
Pie in the Face - Either dishing out pie tins of whipped cream to be thrown or being the one getting hit with them! Just like the dunk tank, if you’re lucky enough to get this station, you’re gonna be hit by at least one pie!
Food Stalls - Ice cream, corn dogs, funnel cakes - you name it, we probably have it! Getting assigned here is somewhat flexible, because you can choose your food of choice to serve.
Rides/Experiences
Chocobo Rides - A significant portion of the Alcaud Plains will be fenced off for these large birds to roam, and you get to wrangle them! Make sure no chocobos escape, get people safely on and off, and maybe even sneak in a ride of your own!
Petting Zoo - Who knows what might be here! All the creatures will be properly penned and trained not to hurt people, at least. No need to worry about potential harm, buuuut it wouldn’t hurt to keep an extra eye on people just to be safe.
Ferris Wheel - It might move slowly, but you’ll get the chance to see lots of people as they enter/exit! And we won’t blame you if you take a spin or two yourself.
Small Coasters - Probably the most exciting ones of the bunch! There will be professionals to help you load the cars and get them moving when necessary, don’t worry! But you’re also in a prime position to fill in empty seats and take a few rides, too.

If yes to the above, one station you do NOT want:
Balamb’s biannual Festival is quickly approaching, and the Committee is planning for something even bigger and better than ever! While B-Garden’s Quad is perfect for a celebration just for the student body, Selphie’s sights are set on growing the event as much as possible, and that means this year’s Garden Festival will be set up just outside of the town of Balamb, very close to the beach to boot!
In addition to the entertainment offered at the previous Festivals, this year’s will also be a full-blown carnival! Food stalls, live music, fun games (including a shooting range, dunk tank, and more!), and large rides like a ferris wheel and perhaps even a coaster or two!
It promises to be a week full of celebration and fun from sunrise to sunset, and we hope you’ll be able to join us!
Admission is free, and although games, food stalls, and rides may cost a few gil to enjoy, all profits earned during the event will be put towards the Trabia Garden Restoration Fund. Direct donations will always be happily accepted, too!
Where do you come in?
With the Festival’s focus on raising funds for its sister Garden, this event will need some help from anyone who wants to pitch in!
As it is basically volunteer-based, we will be asking you to take charge of 1-2 jobs/tasks during the week – descriptions for needed positions will be added when RSVPs are opened. These positions include anything from selling food or souvenirs, to running games or rides, and even being in the dunk tank or kissing booth!
(NOTE: You absolutely do not have to be assigned a job or task if you don’t want to! You may take part just as a guest if you prefer, but it would still be fun to have some people to help keep the Festival running during the week, too!)
We will be opening RSVPs a couple weeks before the event starts. Keep watching for the list and RSVP instructions as we get closer!
The Summer Garden Festival has a date! And yes, it now lasts over a full week!
Stay tuned for more updates about activities that will be going on, RSVP information and more in the coming weeks. This Festival will hopefully be the biggest and best yet, with plenty of opportunities to have fun that we can’t wait to share with you!
Hey, you! Yes, you! Have you ever wanted to join the Garden Festival Committee? Ever wanted to give feedback on the previous Festival events, or give some ideas for upcoming ones? Now’s your chance!
We now have a Garden Festival Committee discord! A few items to explain about this discord server:
Please keep in mind that the Festival being mentioned is an open RP event - it is purely for fun for a few days here on Tumblr for any roleplayer who would like to take part.
The main purpose of the server is to get feedback and input on prompts, memes, and anything else that will go into the weekend when the Festival occurs, but there will also be a chatting channel specifically for any conversation/socializing you’d like to do outside of planning.
There is absolutely NO pressure to pitch ideas or give input on anything if you don’t want to! If you’d rather hang out in the chat channel all the time, that’s perfectly fine!
This blog will still remain as it is now - no changes to those who are able to post on it.
If you would like to join this server, please send a message to @sunny-explosions and I will be happy to give you the link!
With the countdown in the final seconds of the year started, we hope you’ve found someone to share the first moments of the new year with!
When the clock strikes midnight exactly, the first of many fireworks explode in the air over Balamb Garden’s ballroom, party horns are blown, and cheers erupt throughout the ballroom! Will you get the first, most magical kiss of the year? Or will you watch the fireworks show from the sidelines?
The festival is coming to its conclusion - the music is winding down, champagne is being poured, and guests are starting to pair off in the final minutes before the year comes to an end. But it’s New Year’s, and the celebration can’t be complete without a kiss to ring in the new year, right? All you need is a willing partner, and there are plenty in the ballroom to choose from!
Now’s the time to find the person you want to spend the most magical moment with! Make sure you find someone before the real countdown begins, so you can start your new year off in the best way possible! And make sure you snag some party poppers and glasses of champagne to celebrate right afterwards!
