The result is a combination of uses in a four spaces studio of 28 sqm.
PFC - Mat building Biopol’H - Barcelona - 19/20 - Construction
Th construction of the studio is to form four different and flexible spaces, in witch mobiliary is to determine the relation in between them.

As to determine the interior of one of these dwellings, I choose to concretize the studio distribution, witch applied to the structure occupies four modules wide.

Once determined the strategy for the model structure, and applied to the extension of it as a mat, the following subtraction gives place to the more particular public spaces and services.

The disposal of the different served spaces conforms a variety of possible residential uses. The following studio tries to determine differences in function of effective area per resident so as to offer a variety of programs in function of age and budget.Â

The distribution of the structure to create a residential space was made trough a variable of the N.J. Habraken supports theory. Horizontal spaces divided into service and served spaces, while vertical inherited from precast structural proportions. The result is a grid, in witch a catalogue of bath and toilet, that responds to different aged users, determines the space.

The following animations tend to resume the walk of a resident from street to residence.Â
Intentions where to create different in-and-out environments in witch there is a sense of uniform complex from outside, while finding user particular spaces trough the facade. The pictures emphasise the idea of living an equipped structure that is almost alive and growing around its neighbours.

The overall result is to be a variable facade even though into a single interconnected complex.

The architectural facade slabs allow the user to interact with the facade in function of their needs in the interior, generating a communication with the exterior trough the facade itself.Â

The envelope discretize the outbounding elements of the installation. In order to follow the Build-for-disassembly concept of the structure, the facade is composed by mountable architectural facade slabs, that inherit the proportion of the hollow-core slabs.Â

In the studio case of the following program, the structure respond locating two technical floors, the top and bottom, both joined by thin brackets that distribute all the services. Horizontal distribution is done trough corridors and ventilation occupies the interior of the hollow-core slabs.Â

The structure has been calculated in a hierarchy of loads per levels, witch allows possibilities of different overlapped programs. In the scenario case the blue levels could be decks, the red residential, the green sanitary and grey parking or roadway.
The differentiation between an In-build base and a precast structure lead to resolve in two separated calculation models.Â

The structure, once integrated in the under-grounding, has to have the power of growth depending on the program needed. The precast slabs and pillars are to be stacked up at a maximum of six heights over zero level. The purpose of these build-for-disassembly design is to allow a potential organic growth of the mat building.

The structure, that inherits and extends the mat, is to be integrated in the general plan of undergrounding the highway, in a way to share and exploit two times the resources.

The mat is then adapted to host different uses. The philosophy of the structure is to be actively hybridizable instead of hybrid, in order to keep active in an unpredictable future.Â

Using the urban mat as a project tool, I propose a project that extends over the highway joining both sides into one an only complex, in which, as an hybrid, hosts residential, administration and sanitary uses. These program is a result of the combination of older, unconnected plans.
