One way or another, Yuu had navigated the city so far as the grocery store, taking with him a small portion of the funds left to him after reading about the school of which he’d be attending - the rest secured in the room he’d be renting within the hotel. Best to not spend that of which would allow him to continue living there; it was spacious enough to be comfortable, and with meals provided.. was there really much a point to spending on frivolous things? Necessities understandable, toothbrush and the like ; but anything else? He was, admittedly, at a loss. He’d stared blankly at a wall of snacks ( which appeared absurdly low in price to his judgement ) before selecting a few, more out of desire to seem normal than anything else. This is good enough, right?
It wasn’t long before Yuu had begun to make his way up to the checkout, selecting a less occupied path through the isle which contained stationary and the like - before he stopped briefly to pick up a couple pencils and the cheapest notebook of which he could find, uncertain of what supplies would be provided by this academy he was meant to attend.
Perhaps he had lingered too long, for as he was about to turn and finish making his purchases did a female voice reach his ears. A brief glance revealed source of the voice, and the object of her joy. Is it normal to get so excited over a notebook of all things? Quickly had Yuu proceeded to avert his eyes when the girl had begun to tear through her pockets - only to turn his gaze back when the voice arose again - directed at him of all things.
He was.. a bit taken aback.
❛ Do you always ask strangers for money? ❜ Even as he uttered those words, Yuu fumbled for the change in his pockets, then proceeded to count out that of which he believed to be the correct sum - he’d have just enough to assist her and finish his shopping. ❛ Well, you’re bold, I’ll give you that. This enough? ❜ It wasn’t something he’d ever buy himself ( okay, it might have been cute - although he’d never admit that much ), but if it made her happy, it might help him get some kind of answers. Or at least provide an opening.
❛ Sorry if it’s not, I’m not exactly from around here… things are a little different from back home. ❜ Oh more than a little. It was far too peaceful, and what was with all the sheep? Yuu would discover himself used to it eventually, but for now, it was all a little too much.
Hajime called out in response to the boy. Really, if it was up to her she wouldn’t be asking anyone for money, but what was the harm? It wasn’t like she was asking him to pay for everything she was buying, she was just a dollar short! And what a waste of a shopping trip it would be if she had to leave everything she wanted to get behind just because of one dollar.
She supposed, for a minute, that she could just leave behind one of the things she was planning on buying, but that’d be a waste too, wouldn’t it! Then there’d be a hole in her hear where that cute cat print notebook was supposed to be!
Hajime bounced back and forth on the heels of her feet as the boy dug through his pockets for change, and when he offered the money to her, she swiped it up with a big smile on her lips.
“Hehe, bold might as well be my middle name! This is perfect, thank you! Now I don’t have to go home empty handed! You really saved my life today, y’know!”
She calmed down just a bit as he mentioned something that stood out to her - back home. So he wasn’t from here either. Similar thoughts filled her head. Here was an opening to get some answers.
“You’re not a local? Me neither! Kinda weird, I just kinda woke up here.” She made her way to the cash register as she continued to talk. “Is that what happened to you?”
