Some easy crockpot recipes for the sad humans on a budget
Awhile ago my friend @sam-winchester-hunting-log did a post for an easy dinner. That helped me so here’s my help.
I have a 4 quart crockpot (or slow cooker crockpot is just the brand). They’re relatively cheap. I got mine for $20 at Walmart. These things are durable and last forever. Seriously, my grandma has had hers since the 60′s and it runs like a dream. Only problem is that they take longer to cook, but they’re perfect if you just want to toss together your stuff and leave it until it’s done. No babysitting required.
I love this thing and I cook in it at least once a week. All these recipes have fed me and my roommate both for at least three days and they all cost $15 or under.
1 package of chicken tenders
And cheese, sour cream, etc. whatever you want on tacos you choose.
Toss the chicken and taco seasoning packet into the crockpot, don’t add water, you won’t need it. And cook on high for 2 hours. Then assemble taco as you see fit.
16 ounce Elbow Macaroni (or whatever pasta you desire. Don’t let your dreams be dreams, y’all)
4 table spoons salted butter
1 12 ounce can of evaporated milk
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3/4 pound (12 ounces) of white American cheese
Boil pasta on the stove until al dente drain water and then stir in butter until melted. Add everything to the crockpot and stir to combine then let cook on low for 1.5-2 hours.
*One thing bout Mac and cheese, you can’t have too much cheese. This recipe is a guide, just let your soul tell you how much cheese to add. Love yourself.*
This one might cost a little more than $15 because roasts can be like that, but trust me, it’s worth it.
1 ranch dressing seasoning packet
1 packet of Au Jus seasoning
Put in roast, toss other stuff on top and let it cook for 6-8 hours on high. You can add potatoes and carrots if you want to, add them at the beginning with everything else so they cook as well.
Here’s one of my favorites
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Grease your crockpot and add cake batter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
Mix together both sugars and cocoa powder and sprinkle on top of cake batter. Dump hot water on top. Don’t mix it. Then cook on high for 3 hours. This is by far my favorite dessert I’ve ever made.
