It Wasnât A Competition But You Won Anyway
I love how loyal Brian, Roger and John are to Freddie.
Roger and Brian appeared on TV to defend him against the vitriol of the press (some people even wrote that he deserved to die because he had a promiscuous lifestyle) eight days after his death. You can see in their faces the fresh grief and shock, but they still went because they were not going to let those bastards get away with talking shit about Fred.
They went on to create the Mercury Phoenix Trust to fight AIDS worldwide in his memory.
The documentary Days of Our Lives is particularly heartbreaking to watch. Among other things, Brian talks about how they knew but didnât know; they kind of refused to know that Freddie was dying. They were like âNo, it canât happen to himâ and until the last moment they kept thinking there had to be a way out.
They praise his gentleness, his courage in facing his illness and his dedication to music.
Roger remembers how he was on his way to see him when Peter Freestone (Freddieâs assistant) called him to say âDonât bother coming, cause heâs goneâ. And even after 20 years, he has to hold back tears.
John retired after Freddieâs death. We donât know if thatâs the sole reason because heâs a very private man, but the facts are there. He only returned to the band to finish their last album, shoot the video of Only the Good Die Young (another tearjerker) and then stepped out of the limelight.
Their last album was called Made in Heaven, and the cover was a photo of Brian, Roger and John next to Freddieâs statue in Montreaux (Switzerland).
Brian wrote said statueâs inscription: Lover of Life, Singer of Songs.
They worked for almost ten years on Bohemian Rhapsody, because they wanted to get the right people on board (and after watching the film, I can tell you they did) and not because they wanted to milk Freddie, as it has been said. Roger said on the premiere that Sacha Baron Cohen wouldnât have taken Freddie seriously. They answered the actorsâ endless questions and even showed up on the set. Thatâs how much they care about protecting him and his legacy.
Roger regularly posts old photos of Freddie (check out his Instagram @rogertaylorofficial and weep).
So if you want to talk shit about any of them, youâll have to fight me first. And I know Iâll fucking destroy you.
Freddie was a true gift to this world. Heâs one of my biggest inspirations to be all I can be, and life my life to the fullest. Iâll always love and admire Freddie.

2019 is the year we kill stan culture, I canât keep watching these people die on hills for celebrities that donât know them and donât give them anything
Yâall will really spend hours fighting with people you donât know on social media over a celebrity that doesnât know you. Like it was cute in middle school but youâre paying rent now, itâs time to move on
In 5th grade some boys hid my desk in the boys bathroom. I was confused when I got to school and it was missing, so I just sat on the floor and read my book until the teacher came in and made them put it back.
I realize now they were trying to trick me into go into the boys bathroom, but no one actually told me thatâs where my desk was, and it didnât occur to me to ask.
Looking back I realize they had to make the effort to get to school early to move it, and I feel a tiny bit of regret for not reacting more.
In 3rd grade Richard brought his new lacrosse set in for show in tell. the ball went missing during class time and at the end of the day we all had to check our bookbags to look for it. I only glanced in mine (I just wanted to go home), but that evening I found it at the bottom of my bag. I was so scared of being blamed, I threw it into the neighborâs yard and never told anyone.
I found out 2 years later that my bully Luke put it there to frame me, and he was still extremely frustrated I hadnât gotten caught.
Iâm pretty sure Richard got a new ball.
I had a crush on a boy I met in Kindergarten and made NO attempts to hide it because the people on TV were always telling each other when they liked each other. Didnât work as well as Iâd hope (i.e. didnât work AT ALL and no boy wanted to hang out with me ever after that), but thatâs not the point.
Skip ahead to third grade. We had a new kid who was kind of a jerk. One day he asks me if I have a crush and Iâm like, âYeah, [Crush]. And?â Dude turns around and yells to my crush âHey! She has a crush on you!â
My crush just kinda sighs and is like, âYeah. I know. Everyone knows. Thanks.â
So this guy was hoping to embarrass me in front of everyone but it completely backfired because I lack the social filter necessary to feel ashamed of my base desires.
One time in like kindergerden some kid stole my shoe and instead if reacting I just went the whole day barefoot. No one questioned it. He got bored of no reaction and just dropped the shoe but by then I was too committed and continued to walk around barefoot.
Some of yall grew up with a low base stat of âfucks givenâ
damn right we did
Love when youâre in a mineshaft and you just find some mushrooms growinâ wild, like heck yes,,,âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.soup time

adult person: life gets faster as you get older!
me aged 10: sounds fake but ok
me now:
I have. A new recliner chair. Itâs very comfy. but I am worried.
Mochi. Has decided that the best place to sleep is between my feet on the footrest. and when I have my laptop open I tend to. forget that heâs there.
I am going to dump him onto the floor.
Maybe not tonight, maybe not tomorrow night but Eventually He will end up rudely dumped onto the floor, like so much salad.
Pictured: a cat unaware of the fate probably rapidly approaching him, despite me telling him three times now. He is too comfy to care.
Question: You dump your salads on the floor? Why?
Comorbid ADHD and carpal tunnel have lead to a disorder that I like to call âclumsy bitch syndromeâ wherin if I get distracted or grab something wrong I will just⊠Drop whatever Iâm holding? For some reason my favorite salad bowl is a regular victim. Also happens to piles of laundry, the TV remote, and sometimes knives.
I have a strict policy of never holding babies.
G U E S SÂ Â W H A TÂ Â IÂ Â D I D
Mochi is either very forgiving or very bad at cause and effect.
Two different socks, t w o d I f f e r e n t s o c k s, T W O D I F F E R E N T S O C K S
They live in my shoes most of the time, so theyâre the same by the most useful metric (Thickness).
In other news,Â
I tried to give mochi a headscritch while he was on the stairs.
my stairs are basically carpet-covered slabs of wood, with no âbackingâ so you can see through them. Theyâre also directly above the stairs that go down to the basement, so thereâs a bit of a drop.
mochi
rolled over for bellyrubs
and fell
through the stairs
about six feet
before rolling over mid-air and catching himself on the floor/ledge above the basement stairs, claws digging into the wood like mufasa during that one scene that fucked up everyoneâs childhood.
Unlike Mufasa
Mochi is both strong and not predestined to die for narrative purposes
so he hauled his fat ginger ass up over the ledge as I got to the bottom of the stairs.
he stared at me.
I stared at him.
Mochi then bellowed his loudest and most victorious of cat bellows, and threw himself into my chair and rolled over for bellyrubs. Which i gave him.
i am afraid
as Mochi is a ginger like my husband his father
that my son may have inherited my Clumsy Bitch Disease
the nice thing about cats is theyâre mostly immune to fall damage
@mostlycatsmostly
Iâm just going to leave this hereâŠ
